OK, I don't know a lot abour wrestling, but is it normal to have so many guys in one class? Iowa has it too...we're both heavily JR oriented. What happens after next season??

Both teams will be fine. Iowa St/Iowa in wrestling are like USC/Oklahoma in football. Guys leave but both programs have guys that are just as good to take their place. I would almost bet that the second teams of both Iowa St and Iowa could place in the top 15 at Nationals. There is plenty of talent in both rooms that isn't starting.
I don't think there is any doubt about that. I don't know ISU's 'two deeps' as well as I want to.
I can speak to Iowa.
At 133, Dennis and Slaton will battle it out, and Slaton was a national runner up last year. Some folks think Dennis is better.
141: LeClere qualified for nationals, but Tsirtis is a better wrestler and will be eligible to go this year (redshirted last year).
125: Moore could probably challenge for AA as a freshman at this weight, but he will redshirt behind Falck
I am sure ISU has some logjams like this too.
Based on these ratings, it sure seems as though Minnesota has really dropped off this year too. But, I'm sure they'll be back near the top soon.
It won't take Ward long to crack the top 20 at 184 rankings, he's a very talented wrestler although 184 is our weakest link. Curran could surprise people though and I suspect provide as much competition as Ward wants for the starting role.
No beatdowns this year - it will be close! These rankings favor ISU in a UI comparison even more than the others I've seen. I gotta believe Brands will get :policeman:Covington:policeman: back into 165, Beatty is probably better than 20th, and I don't know what happened to Eriksen at Heavy (he wrestled "Z" tough in a match last year and is ranked as high as 14 in other polls), but 165, 197, and Heavy are areas that should/need to be bonus pts. for us this year to "de-throne" the Hokeyes.
LeClere was (about two weeks ago) wearing a knee brace and limping around. Could be his turn for a red-shirt.
Please - Moore is very talented but arguably no better than Clark or many of the other 125lbers who have found the D1 road tough - let's give the H.S. to D1 transition a little more credence - history shows it deserves it!
174: Burk/Carr wrestle-off should be very interesting.
Hope to get to see a sign of things to come with wrestle-offs with 125 Long and HVY Thompson as well.
A lot of heavys get bonus points when mismatched (ex. - #2 vs. unranked).
My point was that these rankings would indicate more mismatches in Cyclones favor -those being 165 197 and Hvy for us and 184 for UI.
As far as nationals go the problem seems to have been just keeping our guys wrestling in the wrestle-backs (and earning points).
Bonus Points will be the key all year. It could easily decide the ISU-Iowa meet and nationals. If we can get em we'll should be able to beat Iowa and place very very well at nationals. If not, I'm sure we'll do well, but not number 1. I look for Gallick, Varner, and Z to lead this year and show everyone what Iowa State wrestling is about.
i dunno. i think we can maybe take iowa in a dual, but i think they are head-and-shoulders above everyone else as a tourney team. i hope i am proven wrong. however, most of our guys, to me, seem underrated. except mitch mueller, jon reader, and it is debateable if varner is underrated or not
