Yes, it especially worries me this late in the season. Not necessarily that we lost the meet but the individual losses.

The way Gallick handled #9 Cleveland from UTC by major, I am very surprised with this result. Hoehn has given Gallick fits in the past, but I thought Gallick was on another level this year.

Not surprised at all by Cyler losing. Chandler is very tough. I was more surprised by Cyler beating Chandler by 4 at Midlands...

Cleveland spanked Hoehn last year too. I thought there might be some transitive power out of all that, but hey... By the way, anyone watch the Iowa-Minnesota dual?
Keddy got pushed to the brink Minnesota's new 84-pounder. I tuned it halfway through. Morningstar and Borschel looked pretty tough.

Beatty had a bit of a scare at 197 too. Very close to a TD on edge of mat in 3rd period for the Minny wrestler.

#8 Freshman Zach Sanders beat #4 Senior Charlie Falck at 125

Minnesota's young but real solid in the lower weights. Looks to be a close dual Friday night. By the way, why isn't this on Mediacom right now? The Duke-BC basketball game is on Fox Sports Midwest right now. Supposedly the wrestling meet was supposed to be playing on tape-delay right now.

Minnesota being good at the lightweights really worries me with this team. Our lights are way too passive on the mat. It seems like Cyler is the beginning of our aggressiveness meet in and out (from 125 on up).

i can't believe you people think not winning duals are important. every match, every dual, every big 12 championship, and at the national NCAA met, every wrestler should be trying to win period. i can't believe sanderson cant't put a full team on the mat. if fanthorpe isn't ready to go,dammit find someone that wants to wrestle up a weight or drop down a weight. put a full team on the mat.

Lots of fans in my section at Hilton Fri. night saying the same thing. Several ex-wrestlers, as well as high school coaches wondering how an elite college program can't get a wrestler out there at every weight.

This meet was disappointing in a number of areas. This team needs momentum and they aren't finding it.

The passivity must change, and I hope this is a wake-up call! There were opportunities for aggressive points out there and they were not attacked. And yes, there should be no open weight in a program of this stature. I can see the loss in a meet or two, but this is insane. Numerous comments have been made by Coach Sanderson on the ability to overcome issues on a few of his teammates. Appears it is still an issue - and a major one.

NCAA now has a rule that says a wrestler can only drop a percentage of their body weight per week to go down to lower weight. All figured through body fat and muscle mass.

Is it worth dropping a redshirt for three matches?

I want to see them win too, but looking at the future is the reason they redshirt kids

Erekson for Iowa has been wrestling very well as of late also. He was out injured yesterday, but he is very capable of beating any othose you mentioned.

I am not sure how we wrestle 3 at 125 next year to save red shirts.

It's wrestling. I think it's only 9.5 scholarships. It's not football where the starting lineup is 22 people but you have over 100 people on the team. There aren't a lot of mediocre wrestlers out there who want to always be a backup -- and there are plenty of good schools for the good wrestlers to go to. We only have a few backups -- that's just reality.

    A) Not worth the redshirt burn.
    2) It's a low weight -- a higher weight would have (theoretically) more "backups" from lower weights.
    C) If YOU are a student and you weigh 133 or less, please offer yourself as the sacrificial lamb.
May my postings be polite and not misunderstood. (And hopefully funny on occasion.)
