Re: Blog on ISU's Contact with Gable
Downer... those comments don't indicate he's all pumped about coaching again... however, he doesn't come out and say "no" either.
It however doesn't appear that he's been offered the job and thus Dan is in a situation where even if he is interested he can't say "yes, I want to coach ISU" because he might end up with egg in his face.
Just like any other potential candidates of open coaching positions I think his comments are purposely vague until (and if) an offer is extended. Then he'll either accept or further inflat his ego by saying no. I have no doubt in my mind that he wants to be asked.
I hope the offer is extended and he says "Yes".

I hope the offer is extended and he says "Yes". Come on, man. This is wishful thinking at it's best. No offense.

not liking the odds of him coming, like Balls said he didn't say no either. I never thought I would say this, but I hope Gable can help point us in the right direction if it isn't him.
Two favorite teams, the Cyclones, and whoever is playing the Hawkeyes! -

Re: Blog on ISU's Contact with Gable
By his comments I highly doubt he will be coaching the Cyclones next year, however I truly believe he will help JP get the best possible candidate because I also believe if Iowa can't win the national title he would like to see ISU win it rather than Oklahoma St, Minnesota, etc.....
Even as a Hawk now he does want to see ISU succeed in the sport and will do everything in his power to help ISU. Plus I don't think he cared for Cael and he would love to see ISU win the national title without him.

Re: Blog on ISU's Contact with Gable
I've heard him make several comments and not once did he completely shut the door and act uninterested. And the statement about "I'm a hawkeye", is the complete opposite of what I heard him say on the news the other day. I never thought he would come, but I'm guessing that he is still considering it based on statements made just a few days ago. Unfortunately, the fact that he is talking as much as he is, it's a good sign that he is not a candidate.

Re: Blog on ISU's Contact with Gable
If you notices, he answered in the negative. Why would I? Not "I would not be interested." If given a reason to be interested, he just might. Having said that,he might not be the fit, but he didn't rule it out at all in my book.

My question also. I admit to not being totally immersed in wrestling, only that it's something in which the Cyclones are pretty good. And I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. So what's wrong with Chris Bono? Is Kevin Jackson's name being tossed around? Nate Carr? Why slam the door on anything uofi, when everyone feels we need a coach to make our wrestlers more agressive? Agressive without being a complete, ........ well, you know.
