Re: Article from Rag on Gable and other
IMO, One way for Dan Gable to have less influence in picking the new coach is to talk about his discussions with ISU officials to the press.

They hate Iowa, they very much dislike the Brands attitude, and they can't stand the Brands over the top antics.
Now that the Cyclones need a new coach, I find it more than a little ironic that Terry Brands is considered by many to be the best fit for ISU. I'm not saying he isn't a good coach, nor could he not have great success leading this program. I'm just saying that while many have wanted Cyclone wrestlers to be more aggressive the past couple years. Almost everyone on this board has put down the Iowa program, including coaches, the way they carry themselves and their ultra aggressive attitude.
I know that everyone is thinking that we want Terry, not Tom. Well guess what. They are cut from the same cloth. They are not much different at all and I bet most people reading this can not tell one from the other if they were standing next to them? I just wonder if those people whom want Terry so bad this year, will be back to bashing him and his brother next year if he does not become the next ISU coach?
Just some food for though and I await your answers. That's a great post, and right on.

Your third post. Followed by every post since then. You take subtle shots at ISU and defend Iowa every chance you get. It's not a big deal, you aren't the only one.

As for shots at ISU, I know of none. I have been hard on Pollard but it is deserved.

Re: Article from Rag on Gable and other
I would take pee wee herman as our coach if Gable suggested it.

Re: Article from Rag on Gable and other
I can respect Pollard for getting Gable's opinion. I wish Gable had not made his thoughts public. Reading between the lines he can now dis anyone ISU hires except Terry Brands. It would be wierd but I do like Brand's style of wrestling better than Cales. No program will beat Iowa on a regular basis unless they score lots of bonus points. We need a coach with an aggressive style!!

We do want them to be more aggressive and who else would bring that intensity? Also, it is not their attitude that we dislike, it is all of the antics like pointing at the other teams bench and things of the sort.

I will still think Tom brands is an idiot. As stated before, it is not the intensity.. it is the lack of class. Sure they are cut from the same cloth, but one could hope that terry could carry himself with a little more class. Honestly, if I were a blue chipper in HS I would have wrestled at EUI instead of ISU because of their mentality. I was the same way. Not saying it was right, but I was.

All-in-all you raise some good points.

Re: Article from Rag on Gable and other
I will support the new wrestling coach no matter who they hire. I would like someone who is more intense. I respect Cael as a competitor but while Coaching he did not show much emotion. He never seemed to get excited or upset about losses. He always said we are aiming for NCAAs never what needed done now. . I was ripped for saying things were to comfortable early in the year. I hope the new Coach will be more willing to push wrestlers to the next level. Go Cyclones Craig

You mean mortgaging one's principles isn't something that coaches might do? Let me introduce you to a couple of fellas.....
Spooner, meet Cael Sanderson and Gene Chizik.
Coaches/People don't always truly have the principles they espouse to the public.......I think we've all learned this the hard way lately.
