Maybe I missed something, but why not Rob Koll for coach. I know he pulled out of Penn St job, but ISU is different.

    Your post got me singing:

"I used to be such a sweet, sweet thing
Until they got a hold of me
I opened doors for little old ladies
I helped the blind to see
I got no friends 'cause they read the papers
They can't be seen with me and I'm getting shot down
    And I'm feeling mean
    No more Mister Nice Guy
    No more Mister Clean
    No more Mister Nice Guy"

Despite my Alice Cooper post, I am in complete agreement with you. Nice guys don't always have to finish last.

Look at it this way, we hire Brands and the anthropology department can study him to learn more about cro-magnon man. Two Birds.

Hell, I'd settle for PG-13 at this point. Enough with the patty-cake! Lets grow a pair and actually WIN at something!

Coach Koll has not even been talked to by OUR AD and I don't know why.

It's basically a few times a year. I would compete against my brother. It's actually fun.

    Competing = fun
Recruiting against each other? Not so much

    Re: ISU contacted Brands

I like how everyone is now concerned with our reputation. Do you mean the rep of getting last place in the big 12 at the big sports. If that is the reputation you mean then yeah I am concerned. The rep of crazy wrestling coach with a National Title does not concern me to much.
Pat Summit, Bob Knight, and Eddie Sutton were all considered crazy until they won National Titles. Bob Knight is still crazy but people respect him.

    Re: ISU contacted Brands

I guess I have no idea what Brands has done as a coach or his athletes have done that makes everyone speak of him in this way. His athletes do well in the classroom, graduate and are (generally) well behaved off the mat.

So he gets excited during matches and rides officials. All coaches ride officials. Some are just less demonstrative than others. When Larry Eustachy used to freak out on officials I didn't see any ISU fans being critical.

What Metcalf did was dead wrong, of course, but I'm not sure that makes him some sort of renegade coach.

That is right, they are capable of getting third.

I still think Koll would be great. Never was on board with Brands or
    Gable.
