I do trust my two sources though. It is possible thay have been mislead as part of a smokescreen. No, if you're wrong, then my sources are wrong too - as you mentioned in your OP, I initially went with this news on another thread.
I would be very happy with Greg Randall. Very happy.

Re: Greg Randall to be named next ISU head coach
I have a feeling that Randall was asked by Jamie to keep quiet and the easiest to do so is to deny being a canidate. I believe Spooner is correct.

I'm a wrestling season ticket holder but I admit I don't follow non-ISU wrestling that much so I really don't have an opinion one way or the other on Randall. I do remember seeing a lot of Boise State wrestlers at nationals however.

Re: Greg Randall to be named next ISU head coach
I don't give a hoot about secrecy or the surprise factor, I just want the right guy hired. I'm no wrestling expert but probably follow it closer than the average fan. I would really only want a "wow" hire with an eiu connection, like Gable or Brands to a lesser extent. I'd rather see an alum like Heskett or even Jackson with Bobby D. to assist. I just wouldn't be excited with a lesser known hawkeye, and I wonder how the current wrestlers and recruits would react.

Rob Koll, Terry Brands, Tom Ryan, Zeke Jones, Kevin Jackson (freestyle anyway), John Smith, Mark Manning, off the top of my head.

Re: Greg Randall to be named next ISU head coach
If true, this is good/great news. One of the few names out there that would make me pretty happy. While not a homerun, it is very close. A nice triple. Sounds like the guy just gets things done, and is a solid coach.
The only realistic names out there ahead would maybe be Kevin Jackson, but outside of him, I am very happy with this hire, assuming it happens.

I know it sounds bad cause I don't want it to happen to us, but at least if Cael takes some recruits/starters with him, we might be able to bring a few in with Randall. I know they should honor their commitment to BSU but I'm sick of it happening to us, so it would be nice to be on the other side. This wouldn't be the possibilty with Jackson or Heskett.

Re: Greg Randall to be named next ISU head coach
Since it's a proven fact that JP likes his surprises, I don't think we'll know with any certainty until about 8 hours before the new coach is introduced. As for Andy Garman's news piece, I think it's quite possible that Coach Randall could have been contacted by a third party, not ISU directly. Therefore he, Coach Randall, would be correct in stating that he had not been contacted by ISU and was not a candidate. Then tomorrow and the weekend they officially meet, under cover, work out the details of a contract, and wham-o, Monday morning it's announced. I love this cloak and dagger stuff!! Personally, I'm holding out for Chuck Norris.

I would not be shocked to see Randall introduced as our coach. Despite what he told Garman.
Maybe he could snag Heskett away from OSU Pipedream, but you never know.

If true, the agent could be doing the contacting and negotiations. If the negotiations fall through both the candidate and the school can truthfully say they didn't talk to each other.
On the other hand Pollard has set a few false trails in the past perhaps to root out information leakers or to ease the pressure from info-hounds.
I won't know officially until Pollard issues a statement but speculation -- in moderation -- is fun.
