Re: Joe Heskett
All those wrestlers had better careers than Joe Heskett! Joe Heskett was the number 1 seed at nationals his freshmen year, the only thing that set him apart from Cael's career, was Cael was better on his feet, Heskett was as good or better in everyother postion. He was so good on the mat national champs wouldn't go underneath, for fear of giving up the pin or at the least back points.
He actually had a win over Cael while in a high school tourn. On the mat he was just seconds from a fall weather he was riding or being ridden. I remember when he committed to ISU his high school coach predicted he would be the Cyclone coach someday. What a call that would be, and I'd be all for it. We need to strike lightning in a bottle, to stay within arms length of Cael. Believe it or not but the bar has been raised alot higher with Cael at Penn St. with Joe's Ohio ties hopefully he could bring in a coaching Staff that can get the most out of his wrestlers.

I am not going to look it up but I think when Cael broke the wins record it was Mike Land's record. I would guess Gable is not in the top 10 only getting to wrestle for 3 years. As far as numbers matching up to just about any top wrestler in the country Heskett is one of only ten 4 time All-Americans at ISU with potentially Jake V being number 11 next year.

And while we're talking about Heskett's legacy, I believe he would be one of only 3 to place in the top 3 at nationals all 4 years. Cael and Tim Krieger being the others.
Personally, I think Joe would be a great hire. He has as much experience as Cael did and he has a better personality. As much as I love(d) Cael, I think he was getting by on name recognition more than anything. If Joe brought in the right assistants (Paulsons, Gallick, Rowlands, T.Thompson, etc) we may not skip a beat.

I can not believe I can remember things that took place 20+ years ago but do not remember things that happened last week -

3. Cliff Keen - Michigan
4. Myron Roderick - Oklahoma State
5. Harold Nickols - Iowa State
6. Bobby Douglas - Arizona state and Iowa State

10. Bucky Maughan North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND

I hope I didn't just jinx it for Joe! Just a question. Where are you getting your info and what has caused this new info sharing here. You have threw alot of names and info out there on this, you either know someone, have a job that allows you to know the info, or throwing stuff against the wall to see what sticks. Sorry to question you but new poster and new member brings up questions in my mind.
