I believe the guy who said Heskett was third only to Cael and Gable in wins probably meant win percentage (without looking up Lands's).
He is a somewhat reputable poster on thematdotcom, no more or less than most others from what I have observed.
Count me with the Heskett crowd with Bobby D as his top assistant for the obvious experience and continuity (of course that would be up to Joe). Agree with whoever said we need to get our coach before recruits start drifting or get pulled away.
Does everybody know that "Captain Insano" in the movie "waterboy" is really the Big Show?
Just throwing that out there.
Don't mess with the Zohan.
Just got this from TheMat.com...
It appears Joe Heskett won't be a candidate to replace Cael. I received the USA Wrestling magazine yesterday, and they had an article about how he has come back from nearly losing his life last year. In that article he mentions that he wants to be a D-1 athletic director. It mentions that he is being mentored by Gene Smith for that type of position. It also mentions that he doesn't do much wrestling in his position as assistant coach at OSU. His wife is his high school sweetheart, so I assume they both have family in Ohio. I think it would take a lot on ISU's part to get him back to Ames.
Did you really think I'd reply with "Oh, I was told by John Doe and Joe Blow?" I know people who know stuff. Or, at least they like to think they do. A lot of people were hoodwinked by the Greg Randall thing but I think I've manned up since and admitted I was way off.
Why he can't be ISU's head coach and still eventually be an AD is simply beyond me. As if being an assistant wrestling coach is somehow helping him there while being a head wrestling coach is not. Ridiculous.
Head coaches generally wrestle even LESS with the team that assistants, anyway.
No offense, but that reasoning is just plain goofy.
With that said, if Gable was coming do you think he would be in there banging around with the guys? Doubt it. It can be done without a coach who is active, as spoons said.
Krieger placed 5,1,2,1 and was one of three wreslters to be seeded number 1 at nationals all four years. The other two were Pat Smith, and Cael. A side note Tim only lost three matches in his whole career two to the same guy. Scott Turner from NC ST.
Holy cow. Did someone say something about Tolly Thompson as a potential assistant? We don't want him anywhere near our program. Trust me. He got fired from UNI for good reason.
Also, thanks to those who corrected me on Krieger. Forgot that he lost twice at nationals as a freshman and got 5th.
