I agree with you Royalclone. By giving the AD a choice, they are putting them into a lose-lose situation. If they don't release the wrestler, then the wrestling community typically bashes them for not being lenient on the wrestler and it can hurt the recruiting efforts of the next coach. But, it they do release the wrestler then they can immediately wrestle for a competitor and put their team at a disadvantage without a "penalty" to the wrestler or the new team. I think it should be a mandatory year if they transfer to another D-1 school.
