    Re: Dan Gable

Dan's bias has caused me to no longer to donate to IPTV - I enjoyed the wrestling commentary earlier with the trio of Johnson, Gibbons and Gable. At least Johnson and Gibbons were fair and open.
    IPTV lost my money.

I don't care who you are and where you came from, you can't be as biased as he is. The thing that put me over the top was Gable calling out Varner at the end when, yes, he did get cocky and clap in front of the Hawks bench. He just retaliated when Brands did it. This guy would be gone if it wasnt for his name. What an embarrasment like the rest of the Hawks classless wrestling team.

Yeah, that was total BS. Especially as I'm sure no comments were made after Metcalf's little gesture (wasn't watching at the time).

    Re: Dan Gable

I lost all respect for Dan when he got up jumping and was in Cael's face when he was an assistant for Brands. We all know the situation with Cael and how it ended up but when I was watching it I was like wtf is Gable doing on that mat? He's got terrible knees and is jumping out on the mat to get in Cael's face? Cael pretty much shrugged it off and showed he was the bigger person but I feel like somebody that's my grandparents age and that is an assistant can act a little classier.

If he wasn't such an icon on the wrestling seen, I wouldn't mind if I never heard him talk again!

The reason gable never has anything good to say about his alma mater aka ISU is because the athletic director in ames at the time said goodbye, cause your not gonna be the head coach here at ISU....

So Gable packed up his crap and went to Iowa and the Hawkeyes became the greatest wrestling school in the last 40 years!!!!

Hell if I were Gable I'd badmouth Iowa State every chance I get and I think that the old boy will never forgive Iowa State for not wanting him as their coach!!!

I don't 'know about you guys but I am glad Cael went undefeated because now at least we don't have to consider Gable the best that's ever been here anymore.

I understand all this but that supports the fact that he shouldn't do the television.

So is ISU! If Iowa is Florida than ISU is Texas. Also their ex coach, is also a ISU grad and former wrestler. A little bit of a difference.

How long has he been doing meets for IPTV? I'd think everybody would be used to it by now and quit moaning about it.

So ISU was supposed to push Harold Nichols out to pasture, a legend in the sport, so that an untested and unproven Gable could be handed the job? Is that what Dan is upset about, that ISU wouldn't force Dan's college coach, the man who made ISU wrestling, into retirement? Yeah, now I get it. Now I understand. ISU's fault.

Dan Gable has said that he hold no hard feelings over that. ISU had a wrestling coach at the time and a good one. Why should we have taken a chance on a young kid who hasn't really proven anything as a coach? In hind sight we should have, but when Gable went to Iowa, ISU was in the midst of winning 4 national titles in 5 years and we won a 5th just a few years after that.

Why would you give a coach like that a boot for someone who hasn't proven anything?

Better yet, send them $0.01 and a note letting them know why.

Gable needs to be put out to pasture. He doesn't bring anything to the sport of wrestling anymore other than a hawkeye bias.

I've talked to Dan Gable. He's actually a pretty laid back guy when not competing.

He put his lifes work into the Iowa program and I think it's hard for him to disconnect.

They need more balance. Gibbons or another non Iowa person would help.
