Boom. Long deserves to be off the team anyways. And if shadows post shows anything thompson, beard and jensen are still at ISU.

I don't have any knowledge regarding this issue, but is this an issue of semantics? What I mean is, would he have been fired, but ISU gave him the option to resign instead?

Haha, that made my day. I love to see some actual information in the age of bloggers and unnamed sources.

Our last national championship was in 1987. Nineteen eighty FREAKING SEVEN. In other words, the school year when this year's fifth year seniors were born. We just wrestled an NCAA tournament where we were closer to 30th place than 1st place. Several projected starters have left the program, along with the abrupt departure of our top assistant coach.

But yeah, there's nothing wrong with the program.

This program is at a crossroads right now. We have an unproven coach making questionable decisions with scholarship money and has a tedious relationship with many on the team. I'm deeply concerned with how some of his decisions are effecting our program's relationship with coaches in this state. I feel like we are walking on egg shells right now waiting for the next one to break.

Coach Jackon is trying to make his mark. I just hope like heck his mark is a good one because right now I'm really not sure and I don't know how anyone else can be.

I can agree with this. I think this year is make it or break it for KJ, and (while I hate to think it) possibly the program.

The second year for a coach being the make it or break it year? Pretty tough standards...

Shouldn't they be? I understand that Coach Jackson has a lot to learn about being a HC at the college level (and the rules/regulations/restraints from the NCAA) that go along with it. Perhaps it would be better to say we'll have a clearer idea after this year where the program is headed.

I love ISU Wrestling. I grew up on it, and I do expect a lot from the program. I also like Coach Jackson and hope that he succeeds and excels at Iowa State. But I hope that's also not to the detriment of the program/University in the meantime.

When you take over a program that was at where ours was, no, those are not tough standards.

Actually, Iowa (1st place) had 134.5 points. ISU was in 3rd with 75 points. 134.5-75=59.5 point spread. That spread the other direction (75-59.5=15.5) would be 36th place.

NCAA.com - The Official Website of NCAA Championships - NCAA

This statement (based on point spread) is correct. However, WE WERE 3RD! Our recruiting class this year I've heard is ranked 6th. Even though that's good, it still worries me. I think Cael's at Penn State was ranked 1st and Iowa's was 2nd.

I have some worries but I think Jackson will be better now that he got his college coaching feet wet. We did lose a lot of talent in the graduating class though so I hope we will make up for that with the next few classes.

It's a common theme with this guy...

This was regarding James Kohler when I posted that James was not going to pursue football and was in fact leaning toward baseball.

I'm not trying to pile on T Man, but when you post things in a definitive way you are going to rile some. Like somebody else posted, this is an anonymous board for the most part, but posting wrong information is not ever going to help the program.
