The following is a press release courtesy of Iowa State athletics communications.

IRVING, Texas – For the fifth time this season, Seanna Johnson picked up the Phillips 66 Big 12 Freshman of the Week honors, the league announced Monday. With five Newcomer honors, Johnson ties the school record set by Megan Taylor in 1998

Johnson averaged 11.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in games against No. 5 Baylor and Texas last week. She was one of two double-digit scorers for Iowa State against the Lady Bears as she tallied a team-high 12 points and four rebounds. Against the Longhorns, the freshman totaled 11 points and eight rebounds. Johnson shot 64.2 percent from the field, 50 percent from beyond the arc and a perfect 100 percent from the free-throw line as ISU split the week’s contests.

Johnson’s honor marks the eighth Freshman of the Week honor for Iowa State this season, as fellow freshmanJadda Buckley earned three weekly honors. The Cyclones have captured a league-best seven Freshman of the Week honors so far this season.

The eight Newcomer of the Week honors also breaks the school record of seven, which was set in 1998 when the Cyclones grabbed seven Newcomer of the Week honors, with Cyclone greats Stacy Frese and Megan Taylor nabbing seven between the two.

Johnson and the rest of the Cyclones will take the court on Wednesday at 7 p.m. to take on Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Okla.
