The Iowa State football program has released its depth chart for the Kansas State game that will take place on Saturday at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

9-13 depth chart

As expected, there’s been a major mixup at linebacker after the news broke in Iowa City that middle linebacker Matt Tau’fo’ou suffered a broken fibula.

Replacing Tau’fo’ou at middle linebacker on the depth chart is sophomore A.J. Klein, who slides over from SAM.

According to the new depth chart, former walk-on Matt Morton has the early lead to replace Klein at SAM, with redshirt freshman Jacques Washington as his backup.

Still, keep in mind that it is only Monday. After Saturday’s loss to Iowa, Rhoads did say that he planned on holding an "open competition" for the starting SAM spot. Rhoads also mentioned that the team could end up playing more nickel, since depth at linebacker is obviously an issue.

Other Notes

– True freshman Shontrelle Johnson has jumped over redshirt freshman James White on the depth chart. Johnson is now listed as Iowa State’s third-string back behind Alexander Robinson and Jeff Woody.

Kirby Van Der Kamp and Daniel Kuehl are still listed as c0-starters at punter. One would have to give Van Der Kamp the edge though after he averaged 40.4 yards per punt in Saturday’s loss to Iowa.
