I know this guy has been discussed here before, and now with potentially another scholarship opening up with the "mystery guard" leaving, we'll have another to offer next year. Would the staff look at Dinc? Normally I would be against it on principal (I'm pretty much an anti-juco guy) but he is a big, physical, athletic prescence. Also, I'm not sure how skilled he is but my faith in McD makes me believe he can make any big man effective down low. Also, Dinc has three years to play so that makes him a bit more of a commodity in my mind.

Basically, I'm just wondering if the staff is looking at anybody else to recruit for the 13th scholly next season.

I haven't heard any rumors yet Dinc does look like an interesting prospect. I hope we use the scholly, if we can find someone worthy of it - rather than banking it.

I agree. I hope we get one more big man also for the class. He doesn't even need to be "great". I just want a big, mean, mutha to play down low with an attitude like Homan used to do. Someone who can give us 12 and 10 each game would be great.

Yeah, like a 2nd half of the season Jiri Hubalek who weighs 40 pounds heavier. We need someone who can bruise, instead of just a "tall guy."

This is off topic on the thread, but I went to look at Dinc's profile... I checked out Brackins, I thought he was a huge prospect, why is he 71 on Scout and only the 17th best at his position?

I would put much more stock in Rivals rankings, they usually are much more accurate then scouts.

I can't answer that. However, Rivals still has him as 18th overall for 2007 and 4th best at power forward and 5 star rating.

Remember after Fizer left and we were all so bummed that the only big guys we had were Pearson, Vroman, & Homan?

Wouldn't that combo be nice now.....how times have changed!

I remember the student section riding Homan hard as a junior. The Colorado game in particular, man they hated him that year. What a great performance he put on his senior year.

Morgan looks like a great center for 08. 6'10" 275 and four star on Rivals. He has a lengthy list of schools. I hope we can stay on the radar.

If we just lost 2 guards - why shouldn't we be after another guard? I know having another center would be nice....but why wouldn't you replace what you just lost?

The nice thing in recruiting today is, we see our names on various (3-5) star lists. the coaches are working hard, and there will be fall-out until the team hits a winning stride...it's only natural.

this may be somthing i regret bringing up, but why not go after J. Jordan?
he doesnt have an offer yet, and the team it says he is looking at are teams like colgate, depaul, davidson, northwestern,ect..
never know, he could actually have some pretty good skills..

No, he doesn't. His team was playing Eric Gordon's on ESPN earlier this year, he and his little brother are not very good. It would be a wasted scholly.

And it night give us a foot in the door to his younger brother who I've heard is a better player as a sophomore(?).

Besides, I'm sure Mike is always looking for new charities.

I can see it now, the Micheal Jordan Basketball Practice Facility and Offices at Iowa State University!!

I agree he wasn't a very good college prospect, but imagine having MJ in Hilton. It would be a good way to raise money and generate ticket sales.

Imagine having MJ calling coach McD because his kid isn't starting over Garrett....Not saying it would happen but it would be a bad situation.

After watching Cem Dinc, McD could turn him into a serviceable big man but I don't think it would be worth it. It would be just another big guy graduating in two years with Thompson and Marsden. I would rather see him get a freshman.

I think Dinc is a frosh at MCC right now so he would graduate the year after Ross and Alex. I'm not 100% on that but pretty sure.
