You know what else sucks about this?

Johnny's Hall of Fame here in Des Moines has DirecTV. Where does the Greater Des Moines Cyclone Club hold their gamewatches? You guessed it.

Never thought I'd have to work this hard to find a road game after switching to DirecTV.

We have 12 days to help them resolve this issue. I'd start e-mailing and calling both DirecTV and Comcast (Versus' parent company) to put the pressure on both of them.

We ought to get KU fans involved too.

I just called DirecTV and they said they had no plans about talking to comcast in the near future.

I have Dish Network. That is our bye week for football. I couldn't be happier.

Do it and cite that reason. These cable/satellite companies that fight with these different stations need to realize that it's not about them, it's about the customer. They just care about their money.

These companies aren't non profit organizations. They're in it for the profit. Yes its about the customer, but more importantly the customers money.

If it's also on ESPN360.com you could consider hijacking a classroom on campus and projecting it on the screen. Worked pretty good for Kent State.

I have Mediacom cable and will just watch it from home.

I just called DirecTV and they said they had no plans about talking to comcast in the near future.

Here is an except from an email I received from DirecTv:

I understand your concern regarding Versus channel. Unfortunately, Versus is no longer available on DIRECTV. Comcast, the largest cable company in the U.S. and our largest competitor, owns the channel and has forced us to pull it down. Here is the situation.

DIRECTV was already paying Comcast more than any other TV service provider to air Versus - and now Comcast is demanding an overall rate hike of 20% on top of that. Comcast also forces DIRECTV to make Versus available to a much larger portion of our customer base at our own expense than they require from other TV providers - most notably, DISH Network. We simply cannot accept these unfair and outrageous terms. All we're asking from Comcast is equal treatment.

Comcast and Versus are currently engaged in a noisy publicity campaign to distract attention from the fact that they are trying to take advantage of DIRECTV and our customers. The bottom line is this, if we were to accept their unreasonable demands, we would have no choice but to pass on the increase in cost to our valued customers. We do not want this to happen, especially in these difficult economic times. That's why we're standing firm in our negotiations with Comcast.

There are always two sides to every story, but who knows. Hopefully, they can get it resolved.

That makes the first 6 games of the season televised in one form or another. For those of us that live out of state this has been great so far this year. Considering how poorly the team has performed in the past few seasons I think we should all be very happy with the level of coverage we are receiving.

I have DTV and can't stand it.

Looking on the bright side - Just gives me an excuse to go the bar next Saturday!

Fans of the Bruins are upset about Versus/Directv too. Their opener is this Thursday and this is from a Boston newspaper

Versus and DirecTV are still in negotiations and both parties say it’s possible that DirecTV subscribers will get to see the Bruins’ season opener.

Nice, this will make 6 out of 6 games televised on some way, shape, or form. Wonder if we can get all 12? If we stay competitive and in bowl contention we ought to have a shot.

Yes and I have Mediacom which has made it possible for me to see all of them. As long as they have the bundle packs at reasonable rates I see no reason to go back to Dish. I have a TV in the garage, on the deck, and in eight other rooms. Can't do that with a dish.

Of the 6 though we'll only be paid for 2 of them, (FSN, Iowa) (Versus, KU).

Here's the $64 question...how easy is it to find a bar that carries cable or DISH? I'd bet most sports bars worth their salt have DTV, lest they don't watch the NFL on Sundays...
