I bought a six of them this weekend since I saw the commercials for it and they had them out on display. Considering it's Bud Light it's not that bad. Good flavor, not as good as the true micro wheats, but passable. I don't know if I would go out of my way to get it again only because if I want this type of beer I would just pay the extra buck or two and get Goose Island, New Belgium, or Leinie's, but I can say that considering the brand name, they did an decent job.

I'll give it a try, but I'm gonna be hard pressed to put it in front of Goose Island 312 or New Belgium Sunshine Wheat.

This. I recently tried 312, and wow, that stuff is great, easy to find, and not too expensive.

Also a recent drinker of the stuff. Bought it via one of those "build your 6 pack" options at Fareway. Got some Sam Adams Octoberfest in that too. The Sam Adams was nice, the 312 was fantastic.

Wife brought home a 12 pack of it for me the other night, it's nearly half gone. :wideeyed:

Everyone knows that Goose Island is owned by a Panther/Hawkeye...right? Just saying... ;)

Good to know. I already knew the they were located in Chicago. Good to know the money is going to people that spent their money in this state.

That is what you wanted to convey, correct?

312 is my favorite as well. I picked some up last week and knocked them over when I was putting them in my car!! Made me want to cry. Guy walking by me told me that Hy-vee would allow me another 6 pack but since it was my fault I didn't feel as though that was right.

Any of the wheat varieties from New Glarus brewing company are way better than anything listed in this thread. Of course, you have to go to Wisconsin to get it, but...it is usually only $6.99 for a 6 pack. Crack'd Wheat, Black Wheat, Dancing Man Wheat...all great (although technically they are hybrid styles).

A friend brought us back a variety of New Glarus, including the Black Wheat, and we just thought it was okay. A tad smoky for our preference. The spotted cow and coffe stout, otoh, were excellent.

Yeah, Black Wheat is very chewy...brinking on porter-esque. Very interesting texture and flavor. Spotted Cow, Coffee Stout, both great. I'm also very fond of Fat Squirrel, and you can't really go wrong with any of their Unplugged series.

Personally I am just overall impressed with the price/quality of New Glarus beer. Obviously the best and cheapest microbrew I've found. If I lived in Wisconsin I would drink it everyday, and with that price I would never go back to anything commercial.

Oh, forgot about the Fat Squirrel. That was excellent as well.

If you like wheat beers, try Erdinger Weissbrau Hefe-Weizen. Goooood stuff. I found it at the Marshalltown Hy-Vee a couple weeks ago. It's sold in 6-packs of 1/3 liter bottles. I originally tried it in Germany and have looked for it stateside for a while. Frankenheim Alt is also good, but I haven't found it in the states yet (or any alt beer for that matter).

finally tried the golden wheat from bud light. I probably should have known better but I tried it out anyway... tastes like a drowned shock top or blue moon... Not impressed.

Worrying about calories in your beer, or putting a lemon in your beer, or heck drinking Bud Light anything is grounds for having your Man Card removed!

You are supposed to drink wheat beer (Hefeweizen) with a lemon.

Not knowing how to properly drink a beer is grounds for having your man card removed.

Tried it and it's ok, but I just wonder if it's a true wheat beer. The label says "light beer brewed with coriander and citrus peels." So is it just a light beer brewed to taste similar to a wheat? Kind of tastes like it to me.

I love Boulevard, Blue Moon, etc, but I thought Bud Light Golden Wheat was pure, unadulterated swill. The stuff was terrible. I took like two drinks of it and couldn't continue.

Only girls drink a beer with a lemon, or a lime, or an orange.
