Plus the embarrassing torch lighting difficulties. I vote for Canada not getting another Olympics any time soon.

Also, they can't have spectators along the ski and snowboard runs because the ground is unstable.

I'd be upset if I was one of the 4,000+ that were told not to attend and/or turned away at the gate. Some family from the PNW drove up to the Olympics yesterday with tickets to the boardercross and couldn't attend. At least they're getting their money back though.

do you think they cut lots of corners? or is it all just odd timing of things? i know the warmer than average weather is effecting conditions outside, obviously doesnt matter to speed skating. but it is altering conditions on the hills and couldve even contributed the the luge track ice conditions.

I thought that was due to the recent weather, not so much the tracks themselves.

Shouldn't somebody have planned for that possibility? It's costing them a TON of money. Maybe it was unavoidable, but I think some Civil Engineer is under the gun for this as we speak.

All the Zambonis broke down at the same time and the event was delayed over an hour after the first few groups went.

Seriously? It's Canada. How many people probably drove their zambonis to the event and are sitting in the parking lot?

sounds like they went with another company...not Zamboni...since when did people get cheap and cut corners in planning for the Olympics?

They're not using Zambonis

Looks like that may be the problem. By my quick research, Zambonis are the original, made in the USA. This year's Olympics machines are made by Olympia. Which country, you ask? Canada!
