Here's the release per ISU:

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State head men’s basketball coach Greg McDermott announced today that Chris Colvin, a freshman guard from Chicago, will transfer to another school.

Colvin played in 29 games in his first and only season with the Cyclones, averaging 3.0 points and 1.9 assists. He had a career-high 11 points vs. Oklahoma.

It's ok. ISU doesn't need him. He was way over rated. He's not that good. Probably wouldn't have played much next year anyway. This opens up more time for Bubu!

I'm shocked. Out of the blue. There wasn't any indication he was even thinking about leaving, right? :jimlad:

Interesting that this press release is short and to the point. No quote from Colvin citing a reason or talking about loving his time at Iowa State. No quote from McDermott wishing him well.

In all seriousness...this is getting old and you can tell it is happening too much when it doesn't even faze me anymore.

You would have thought ti would have been easy to do. Just delete the name "Justin Hamilton" and insert "Chris Colvin".

At this point, the Athletic Department has to have a form for this by now where they just "insert players name here"

Since he was suspended for (nearly) a month in January, did anyone really expect anything else to happen?

Really?

I'm surprised it's taken this long. My bets were he would be gone within a week or two of the Big XIIs.

Yeah, that is weird. Something like that is usually pretty typical. They throw out some general talking point like more playing time, finding a system that is a better fit, needing to be closer to home or family, etc. I wonder why they didn't do that here? It is almost like they got burned by that in the past. Anybody heard anything?

I guess I can't remember -- did Buckley have a statement of any kind?
