NCAA approves 35 bowl games for next four years - ESPN

Not sure how I'd feel about going to NYC to watch a football game at the end of December. I guess the plus side would be sticking around for New Years.

It looks like these bowls are replacing the Indenpendence and Sun Bowl in terms of Big 12 bowls.

Beginning in 2010, the Big 12 bowl lineup will feature (opponent):
Tostitos Fiesta Bowl and/or BCS National Championship Game
AT&T Cotton (SEC)
Valero Alamo (Pac-10)
Insight (Big Ten)
Pacific Life Holiday (Pac-10)
Texas (Big Ten)
New York Yankees (Big East)
Dallas Football Classic/Eagle Bank (Big Ten/ACC)

2009-10
Following is the selection order:
BCS
Cotton
Holiday
Gator (when it selects a Big 12 team)
Alamo
Sun (when the Gator does not take a Big 12 team)
Insight
Independence
Texas

So it looks like our typical bowl chances are:

Pacific Life Holiday (Pac-10)
Texas (Big Ten)
New York Yankees (Big East)
Dallas Football Classic/Eagle Bank (Big Ten/ACC)
at large
none

Not sure how I feel about this..... I really like the Alamo bowl being lower. NYC Bowl would be freezing and crowded.

Is there a date for the NYC bowl? I think Dec. would be a nice time of year to be in the city actually. Easy to find reasonably priced plane tickets to NYC as well.

I wish we could get a florida bowl.

Not gonna lie, New Years Eve in NYC would be pretty fricken cool. Would not be upset with any of these. If there is one I would least prefer, it would probably be Houston.

But hotel rooms in new york around new years? good luck. Honestly i think i'd rather be in Shreveport. At least its warmer.

NYC is probably the one bowl i wont attend if we make it, just because itll be pretty expensive. Plus, unlike other places its such a large place that cyclones will be spread out everywhere (as opposed to going to your hotels and seeing cyclone fans everywhere)

Not necessarily. I booked a 4 star hotel in Times Square last year during the Thanksgiving parade for $130/night (I think I used Travelocity.com). I told a work buddy of mine who was going there for New Year's Eve and he called up the same hotel and got the same rate as me. That's pretty reasonable considering the location. Also, if you don't want to go the New Year's Eve, you can just book a hotel outside of Manhattan (NYY Stadium isn't on the island anyhow) and subway wherever you need to go.

Mark me down as another one to take a pass on the NYC game. I like the new game in Dallas though. Great facility and an easy location for me to drive. I would be at that one in a second.

Same here. I'd consider NYC just because I have family out there, and wouldn't have to deal with hotels, but I'd vastly prefer Dallas.
