We will miss Fred Hoiberg dearly. He was on track to become president of an NBA team because of his broad range of skills and ability to connect with people. But we recognize this opportunity is a dream come true for Fred and are happy and excited for him.

Fred Hoiberg is truly a class act and a wonderful person. It has been a pleasure to get to know Fred and his wife, Carol, and their entire family through the years. Ever since he joined the Timberwolves as a player in 2003, he has represented the organization on the court, in the community and in the front office with class, dignity and true professionalism. Fred is one of my all-time favorite players and will always be a part of the Timberwolves family. Although it is sad to see him go, we know he will be successful at Iowa State and wish him nothing but the best.

Still here. And if ISU's in the NCAA Tourney 3 years from now, I'm not going to apologize for being skeptical about this hire. Even if this works out better than we could ever hope, it's not going to change the fact that this is one gigantic gamble.
