Yeah, occasionally you have to fiddle with it to close apps and make sure they don't run in the background.I haven't done the research yet but I read that there's some quirk where certain apps don't shut down properly and that's what drains the battery. And I think there's a fix for it. Have you checked into that already?
This was kind of the dilemma I was in as well, but I really wouldnt hold your breathe on the Iphone coming to Verizon thing. I dont see that happen for atleast another year, if it comes at all.I'm waiting to see if apple announces a verizon iphone4 in june, if not, im thinking the incredible may be the way to go. Seen a lot of positive reviews on it.

I'm currently using a windows OS phone and thinking about going to this phone. Is the OS on the Incredible similar to windows?
thats very interesting. There does seem to be some hope...Report: 10 million CDMA iPhones on order Boy Genius Report
On the Eris, if you turn off the GPS then it saves your battery a lot. They are essentially the same phone with upgraded processor, screen, ect so I would assume that would work with the Incredible as well.
Dont know much about windows mobile OS but I would guess its more locked down then Android 2.1
You can basically do whatever you want with the Android 2.1 within reason.
Of course this is a good and bad thing, depending on how knowledgeable you are.
