No it doesn't. Nebraska has a state population of somewhere around 1.7 millions. 1.7 million of those people are Nebraska fans who have nothing to do but support Nebraska football. They bring million of dollars to the table where as ISU brings thousands of dollars to the table.

Um, that's EXACTLY what StLouisClone was saying.. That BEYOND dollars, mainly being those involved with TV sets, ISU makes more sense.

I think beyond money both Nebraska and ISU make great sense. Talk about an awesome western division, geographically.

If Witosky really is the DMRegister's investigative reporter, one might think he would request a record of Sally's vote under the Iowa Open Records Act and then ask Sally and BOR President Miles for an explanation.

Are you so dense you cannot read? No where did anyone claim that Sally Mason should not look out for Iowa. Can the BoR not tell Sally what to vote? If they can, then they should have forced her to vote no. Besides, as I am sure you would have loved to point out, it would have been a courtesy vote.

This was never in doubt. Anyone is kidding themselves if they thought otherwise. The BoR is not going to jeapordize Iowa's standing within the Big 10 in any way, shape or form. Regardless how minimal that impact may be.

And anyone who thinks that Congress is sincerely going to threaten the anti-trust or tax exempt status of college sports? You need look no further than this example of a vote. EVERY legislator, except a small handfull, have institutions that are still part of these mega conferences. They typically are the more powerful or popular schools. And the perception will be that they have more to lose than an ISU has to gain.

You really think, with all the Longhorn supporters (voters) that anyone from Texas will vote to cost UT tens of millions to save little old Baylor?

And it isn't much different in Colorado or Iowa or any other place.

The BoR is going to do nothing to help ISU. Why would they start now? When have they willingly done anything to help? Cut funding, cut programs and now we have Bransted (Pomerantz commission) and his loyalty to Iowa to deal with. In the end the BoR will cut so much both athletically and Academically that the ISU will be left with very little. How much of the Engineering Dept will they try to move to Iowa to bring in more research dollars? Because of the lack of like institutions to associate with the research dollars coming to ISU will be greatly reduced. Good Bye Engineering, Good Bye excellent academic reputation, Good Bye Paul, Good Bye Fred, Good Bye Bill, Good Bye Christy, Goody Bye Kevin. We will not be able to afford anything that we have ben working towards. It is a sad day and week for ISU. I have lost faith in Geoffrey and Pollard, being disappointed does not do much to save our place as a division I athletic deparment. But ISU SHOULD NOT COUNT ON THE BOARD OF REGENTS OR BRANSTAD OR CULVER TO HELP US AT ALL. Their hearts and true alliances are all 100 miles to the east.

And for those who say it would not matter: then why not have Sally Mason voe no Is the U of Ia really in that insecure of position where they would be kicked out? I know they do not bring that much to the table, but they are a founding member.

I do not understand how ISU alumni and supporters continue to put up (votes and wallets) with this type of disrespect from the state.

I wish ISU would be admitted into the Big 10 along with Missouri. I just don't think that is going to happen.

Ok. I have said this as well as others on this site, not to mention most of the U.S, they are not expanding for teams, they are expanding for more money. ISU makes no sense for them. How is Sally mason standing in front of everyone and saying " we are standing up for Iowa Stateand think they fit better than Nebraska, not a slight on Nebraska.

Actually that's not correct. Take away the 20 million the conference coughed up and we still pulled down 60 million. Which is roughly 30 million more than ISU brings in annually and I am including the money you got from the Big 12.

In fact Iowa is ahead of Minnesota, Purdue, Illinois, Indiana, and Northwestern and Iowa is ahead by a lot.

You do realize why everyone wants into the Big 10, correct? They bring nothing to the table that the Big 10 cannot get better of. TV's?-no. Academics?-no. Big 10 AD budget without Big 10 subsidization?- better options.
I will say they are easy wins for the rest of the Big 10 in most sports.

Nevertheless, this is not about Iowa, This is about the State's public servants doing what is best for the entire state.
