I did hear that BWW was going in there. As for Olive Garden, I don't know how ANYONE would have a complaint with that place coming in. If you don't like it, at the very least you know it is sucking people away from the places you DO like to go to. Olive Garden is always full. You know there is EVER a wait at Applebees, there is not enough options in Ames.
My checking account is damn happy there isn't. I can justify not going to WCW because its an absolute rip off, but for some reason, I struggle to use the same justification with BWW.The fact that there isn't already a Bdubs in Ames is ridiculous.

Yeah, someone in BWW's market research team needs to be fired for the Mason City before Ames f up. I'm guessing WCW is hoping like hell BWW never shows up in Ames because it'll kill them.Towns like Manhattan, KS and Mason City have BWW's... its pathetic that we don't.
If its a BWW I might be a bit surprised. I thought they were tied into whatever building Petco wanted to have down there by Pizza Hut. I think plans were pretty well established until the city code required Petco to have a certain number of parking spots and they were not going to do that because the average people who are in there store at one time was like a fraction of what the city wanted.
In my opinion....there is no reason Ames shouldn't have
Olive Garden
Outback
BWW
Kohls
A real sports store (MC Sports, Sports Authority)
Krusty Krab
A real mall (recruits typically visit these while they are here.)
The biggest problem with Ames is Ankeny is stealing everything. When there is something within 25 mins that may cause Places not to build in Ames.
That being said...Ames does have a bunch of cool eating places that people don't know about. the stuff listed above just helps put Ames reputation out a tad...
The zoning board of adjustment really pulled a classic Ames move. The parking space ordinance is ridiculous but I'm pretty sure the city council ended up lowering the requirement recently. What I thought was they were concerned about the sewer runoff being too close to a well in that area, which seems ridiculous when you've got a Target and Super Wal-Mart right there too.
The lack of a sports store in Ames does surprise me, but at the same time, it doesn't. I think the only reason Mason City has MC Sports is because Mason City is a shopping destination. Ames isn't. People go to Des Moines instead. Mason City has a strangle hold on north central Iowa unless people go up to Bloomington or Mankato for northwest Iowa. The Sports Page in the mall, like the mall itself, is an absolute joke. I think the above is pretty much the exact same reason Mason City has Kohls and Ames doesn't. A crabby patty joint would put Ames far above Mason City though. :yes:In my opinion....there is no reason Ames shouldn't have

Ames previous city councils were about as anti-growth as can be. Hopefully the new members of the council voted in last year pull their heads out.The zoning board of adjustment really pulled a classic Ames move. West Side Wings > BWW
I didn't think the flooding was that bad down there!
