Until you look at their stats from last year and see they are nearly identical.

Sims - 88 Tackles/5 int/3 FF
Sash - 86 Tackles/6 int/2 FF
I don't care what AA teams Sash is on, he is not better than Sims. I was gonna stay out of this till somebody brought that up. I'm just glad Iowa fans aren't narrow minded!

Sash played against far better competition.

Arizona, Penn State, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Michigan State, Northwestern, Georgia Tech

vs.

Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Missouri

Who cares about the schedule? Honestly, David Sims is an absolute beast! Clayborn is the only football player that will be out there better than him.

The one really important thing you failing to recognize is that Sims had to be good behind a terrible D-line that didn't get any pressure on the quarterback. The ISU secondary had to cover twice as long as Iowa's. I'm not saying Sash isn't good but Sims is just a better player...end of story.

I was hoping you would bring that up.

It also gives him far more opportunities to rack up stats due to your poor defense. He has to tackle and cover far more often than he should.

He has to cover more often because teams in the Big 12 throw the ball a lot more than big 10 teams and when you play behind a bad d-line that puts tons of pressure on the defensive backfield. We can throw stats completely out the window if you want, the fact still remains that Sims is a better athlete and football player than Sash...and I'm not sure why you can't understand that.

I guess I am not the only one that can't understand that given that coaches, writers, scouts and many others seem to think Sash is a better player.

Show me a link that compares the two and flat states that Sash from Iowa is better than Sims from ISU. Sash plays on a nationally recognized team that was preseason ranked in the top 10 and Sims plays for a team that was picked to finish last in the Big 12. Not that hard to figure out.

Sash wouldn't be on those lists if it weren't for his game against Iowa State

Sims would be an actual Jim Thorpe candidate if he played at iowa. What writers? Skip Bayless. What coaches? Did Sash get an offer from OU?

No ****. If Sims was on the Hawkeyes everyone would know who he is and would be regarded as one of the best defenders in the nation.

Who cares where Iowa State was picked to finish? There is a player on the team from Arizona State and they are picked to finish next to last in the Pac-10. UCLA has multiple players and they are picked to finish 8th in the conference.

Sims should have no trouble making the team if these guys can. The reason he doesn't is because he simply isn't as good as Sash.

Give me a reason why you think Sash is so much better other than that is what you are told.

Ok whatever guy...you keep thinking that and we will see who has a better career in the NFL. ASU and UCLA (think about that for a second) get tons more national attention than ISU (regardless of how they are picked to finish in the conference) and you know it but you just choose to recognize it. I can't argue or reason with a brick wall so time will just prove my point.

LOL! No one looks into Iowa States roster. Try having this debate at the end of the year when ISU goes bowling with one of the hardest schedules in the nation, or after more people look at them after they pull of the upset against Iowa.

I think Sims is one of the best safeties in the country but Tyler Sash is very very good. Also, I haven't seen Sims on many of the top NFL prospects lists but I've seen Sash on several. Sometimes people on here get way too homerish, especially this week.

Exactly...you should look at yourself in the mirror with that statement. Even though you know it you fail to admit it makes a difference that Sash plays for Iowa and Sims plays for ISU. It is impossible to reason with Hawk fans, especially this week.

Performance on the field and ratings from people who make a living judging these types of things?

So performance on the field has been covered statistically, and they have found to be equal. On the field, I can say I have watched Sash play, seen his highlights, all that stuff. Many of Sash's interceptions were not high skill interceptions. Many were soft tips, and one was the luckiest play I have ever seen at Iowa or ISU. Using the eye test, Sims is a better athlete, better run supporter. Sash probably has slightly better instincts as a ball hawk, but his stats are inflated by easy picks, as I stated earlier.

As for the second part of your answer, I stated specifically that that was not something I wanted to hear. It means nothing, because none of those writers watch ISU because we are not a nationally popular/ranked team.
