He said SFA was the best team IN OUR DIVISION that we would play this year.

And who's to say we weren't better than ISU last year? Our 1 common opponent was Iowa, and you guys got crushed at home, and we come within a hair of beating them at their own place.

Dude, come on. We won 7 games, including a bowl game in a BCS conference and you missed the playoffs in the FCS. I'm not saying you guys aren't a powerhouse at your level and that you can't usually compete with the D1 teams you play, but pick your battles.

i heard that bit on Sound Off. It could have been taken out of context, but it wasn't done so by just me.

Keith Murphy was wrong - Farley did say SFA was the best opponent UNI would play "in our division."

I don't get why ISU fans have such rabbit ears over what a coach say to his fans on his radio show. It's designed to explain a loss to the boosters; kinda like CPR saying Iowa could win the national championship after the ISU loss to them.

I would love to hear some sound bites from their play by play guy, you know that DB that always says ""I love this team"! Gary Reima. "95 yard pick 6 by REEVES...OH BABY.... I LOVE THIS TEAM!"

Turnovers happen when you are behind and trying to catch up. ISU did the same thing at Iowa last year. ISU didn't turn the ball over because they were not asking their 2nd string to score big points to come back from behind. The coaches were most likely telling Tiller if a guy isn't wide open, throw it away.

Media: So, what's it like coaching against your favorite team?
Farley: Well, its hard, but sometimes you just need to miss a couple of field goals so your team gets their way. We are still the second best team in the state anyways.
Media: ummm.. ok?

Are you sure the media would say? Because I get the impression on this board that media is out to get ISU. Are you sure it wasn't something like this:

Media: So, what's it like coaching against your favorite team?
Farley: Well, its hard, but sometimes you just need to miss a couple of field goals so your team gets their way. We are still the second best team in the state anyways.
Media: Well considering the other team in the state is ISU, you may have a point.

We have shut UNI out 3 times out of the last 6 times we have played them if I am correct. Thanks to Gene Chizik, Farley actually thinks we are on the same playing field. I hope Rhoads shows him over and over again that we are not

I agree. I was so ticked about that loss in 2007 because I knew it meant we would never hear the end of it from the UNI coaches, players and fans. It doesn't matter how many times we drub them in the future, they're still going to point back to that game and talk about how they always have a chance against us.

Huh?

There are multiple other wins and near wins for UNI in the series as well.

This is the reason I've gone from just wanting a safe win against UNI to hoping we drub them by 50 points every time.

Dude, ISU's offense laid a total turd, and they still beat UNI by 27. There is no woulda-coulda-shoulda about a win like that.

Be thankful ISU's offense couldn't punch through a paper bag last week to keep it down to 27 points.

If the offense had been clicking at all that's a 40+ point victory and practice time for third string.

These quotes make exactly as much sense as saying UNI would have won if they didn't turn the ball over. "ISU would have won by more if they would have scored more points"

That and he doesn't really have a recruiting base. They do a really good job of building up Iowa kids (better than we've done the past 10 years). Other than that, they have gotten some big transfers from 1A schools. BCS schools look at the way they recruit and assume that it doesn't translate to the higher level.

Name the big number of FBS transfers that make up UNI's recruiting???? The last 2 recruiting classes have had had zero FBS transfers. Couple I can remember recently are Fiacco from ISU and Whitney Lewis from USC 3 or 4 years ago. Hardly a big percentage of recruits

I do not see why we should get rallied up. It is the coach from freaking UNI talking to whatever UNI fans are out there. Of course the man is bitter, he has been at UNI his entire career. Do you really expect someone who has seemingly been stuck at UNI since high school to tell his own fan(?s?) how much better ISU is in every regard?

I just mean that if you throw out the mistakes. Their offense moved the ball better on us than ours did on theirs. And their defense, outside of getting turnovers, held our offense in complete check, while our defense struggled at times to stop them from moving the ball.

If ISU throws out their mistakes, the UNI game would have been closer to 50-0, and ISU 3-1.

I fixed that for you. I don't want people that don't know about the series to think that you guys have had a lot of success against ISU.

Well all the games are on the road for UNI...

ISU winning percentage Big12 road games = .311
UNI winning percentage Big12 road games = .283

Who else do you play besides ISU? If ISU played against ISU for all of their big 12 road games their winning percentage would be near .500.......

let me know when you play in Lincoln, Norman, Austin, College Station, ect.

Kansas state is the other wins. I just found the stat interesting especially considering the content of this thread. Farley talked up ISU all week and was especially impressed with the coaching staff and the overall attitude change at ISU.

Blow's my mind that any Iowan wouldn't be proud of the "walk-on from Waukon" becoming head coach and showing his dedication for one university.

I would hope it would be right at .500, otherwise there is a tear in the space time continuum.
