I think it's a simple matter that if you're breaking the law, you'd better be prepared to accept the consequences if you get caught.

This. We're all free to make the choice to drink/not drink. The problem comes when people b**** about facing the consequences after knowingly breaking the law. Someone's opinion of the law is irrelevant. It is what it is. The key is being willing to accept the consequences if caught.

with this in mind - there should have been contributing tickets written to the two fathers that were trying to talk the police out of the tickets of their sons....I think the transition has been "give us a reason to notice you and we will do just that" to "we are going to look for you to break the law and be there to write the ticket when you do". Apply that to many other aspects of society and it may not be so great - speed cameras are the first things that come to mind.

Good call on the contributing tickets to the parents.

I don't think any of us saying don't break the law if you don't want the consequences are saying you shouldn't go out there and drink. We're saying that it's the law, you know it's the law, you're knowingly breaking the law, so don't complain about it when you get caught. If I'm speeding and get pulled over for speeding, I'm not going to complain, because I knew I was speeding any way, regardless of what I thing the legal speed limit SHOULD be or the fact that everyone else around me was speeding as well.

I bet you never drank when you were uder age:yes:

I can count on one hand the number of times I drank while underage.

The difference is I knew the consequences and kept myself away from police presence while doing so. Drink at home with friends, don't do it out in public when cops are wandering around. Seems pretty simple.

I am underage (until the 12th) that being said I am not going to lie...I drink big whoop. However I know the consequences if I get caught and I don't risk it...I like that money in my bank account and kind find a lot better things to use it on than paying off a ticket that I deserve. I just drink where I can get away with it such as my apartment and friends places along with parties and such where I feel comfortable doing so. Not trying to be on a high horse but plain and simple I don't feel sorry for those who do get caught and get punished you knew what you were getting yourself into.

At the UNI game, Pac-Blue (bike cops) rolled up and ID'ed a few of us standing in line for the toilets, one kid didn't have his ID and only looked to be in his lower 20's. The kid said he didn't bring it, but he swears he's 21 and just got an OWI. The cop let him go without anything. Lucky SOB.

My only complaint was the stupid rent a cops and their horrible traffic directing.

Don't drink while underage and there won't be problems. Not sure why people think the law doesn't apply just because its happening in large numbers outside. Yes, the law sucks and the drinking age is higher than it should be, but everyone knows the law and the consequences. If drinking is a must for you and you're underage, go to a friend's place, stay at your apartment and do it, etc. etc.

Or just tailgate and don't get caught.

You drank five or less times total your first 2+ years of college? :twitcy:

Hilarious.

I was probably pretty close to that too. Made up for it the next four years though!

Yes, I spent 6 years in college. No, I only have one degree. I offer that as proof that I made up for those first two years in the next four. Probably a little too much.

Wow. Guess you learn something new every day. I always thought those kind of people were just bookworms and not sports fans. I think that I drank 5 times my first WEEK of college. Ahhh, the good old days!

The "put whiskey in your coke can" trick is pretty stupid, in my opinion. You drink coke much different than you do whiskey and coke. Cops can tell the difference.
