Ha ha, absolutely pathetic. I don't care if someone has 3 tests the next day, I'll never be convinced that you can't set aside 2 hours (or in the case of last night, leave at halftime and only go for one hour) to go support the basketball team. I know not everyone is blaming this on class/studying but those who are claiming those excuses are complete jokes.

Yeah, no joke. Get your **** done during the day so you can enjoy the game at night. I got through school with arguably one of the most difficult majors and never missed a game because of school or other involvements, so the "I had too much homework" excuse doesn't cut it for me. If I had a meeting or something, I'd just skip it.

Students should WANT to go to games, especially more than doing homework.

I don't think we have a problem with getting die hard fans in the seats. I think it is the fringe fans who don't plan days in advance for games. They weigh the extra work they will have to do or their grade in a class versus watching the basketball team maybe win.

Please point out one game in the history of Hilton against a school no one has ever heard of that has been attended well. Guess what? You can't, because it hasn't happened.

People are full of **** when they say Hilton used to be filled every game. I remember going to those games as a younger kid and it wasn't. Conference games? Yeah. Non conference patsies? Nope.

You just became an old man. Welcome to the club.

This site is in need of a little pruning anyway. Maybe we can filter some off to PheasantFanatic.com or CycloneNerds.com.

ATTENTION: We have stuff to do during the week. Thanks.

I once had a night test that was scheduled during an ISU game. You know what I did? I talked to the professor and took the test a day early so I wouldn't miss the game. And by the way, it was a non-conference game during the MCD years. Just sayin'. I understand if you can't make some games, but try to give away your ticket or something.

It took McD several years to Torpedo our program, it will take several years of winning to win the hearts and souls of fans and students back.

Yes, because those of us who are full time students and work 30+ hours/week on the side have all the time in the world! **** off dude.

Well aren't you just awesome tough guy. Such an awesome team player! Like above, you can also **** off. I'm by no means an A student but I am enough of a person to not make excuses to a group because of a pointless basketball game. School > Athletics. Always has been, always should be.
You just became an old man. Welcome to the club.
Bike rack. Next game.

What was your major? Seriously, this is absolutely ridiculous that you would ream someone for studying. I did not come to the game, and it sucks, but honestly, if it comes down to school and a basketball game, I'll choose school every time. It frightens me that you were able to graduate from college without understanding this concept. This was hopefully the only game that I will miss all year, but if I can't make a game, that's the way it is. School is more important, because my life and/or career does not hinge on the success of Iowa State Basketball. I don't disagree with the fact that a lot of people could have come to the game, but to say that every single person has enough time is just ignorant.

LOL at anyone making excuses on the pathetic showing from ISU basketball students.

LOL at students complaining that they need to study, yet are on Cyclonefreakingfanatic today wasting their time. Nice job!

Maybe ISU is the only school that has students that have to study during the week. Or maybe a few years ago students didnt have to study.

Memo to Jamie Pollard.

I will pay more than the students for those seats. I know a lot more people would as well. Let us buy them. All 100 of them can snuggle up on one end of the court.

Nobody is expecting 3,000 students to show up. (even though that is only about 12% of the ISU student population). Nobody is saying that everyone has to go. Let the kids who struggle with college content or organizational skills stay home and study. There has to be someone who can go to the game right?

If not, why do we give them tickets.

Relax man. I'm sure you had a legit reason why you couldn't go last night. I just know there are some people out there who can't manage their time and then wonder why they can't go to any of the games.

You have 16,000 posts on CF. You really dont have any time at all. You are right. I shouldnt call you out. Im just using it as an example how some people here complaining about time, are spending 30 minutes to hours a day on CF.

I actually agree with Wonkadog. I can remember going to a game when I had 4 finals the next day. Passed them all with flying colors AND cheered my Clones to victory.

For 90% of the students I see little reason why they could not be at the game.

You remember having ample time the week before Thanksgiving Break? I doubt it.

Yes, 28,000 students live across the street. Luckily there's nothing going on this week, like multiple exams, papers due, group projects. I know of at least 15 people that normally attend games that just couldn't this week because things need to get done for class.

I know that there are times when it's just unavoidable that you have to miss a game. It's understandable. But I can tell you that if we were ranked right now, the student section at Hilton would be nearly full for somewhat meaningful games like last night against Drake. Schoolwork or no schoolwork. Excuses are just that -- excuses.
Iowa state must not have any time management classes. I guess when I was in school, I never realized theat attending a basketball game that lasted 2-2.5 hours meant I couldn't study or write a paper after the game. Apparently, if there is a game one can't study prior or after the game. It blows the whole night.

It easy to accumulate posts when you can surf at work.

Or people want those 3 hours to study? Its a cold day in hell before I miss a game, but people criticizing people who choose to try to do better academically are morons.

Additionally, the number of students who have jobs vs the number who don't is higher now than it ever has been in the past. Students don't have as much time as they used to.

And still no one has fought my analysis from games as a younger kid that these games have never and probably will never be packed. The people here are on CycloneFanatic. They aren't the issue. Wish I had the pictures from games when I was younger. Students and adults alike have never packed Hilton for these games, and some of those were when we were actually a respectable program!

Before last season I had never missed a home basketball or football game since I was a student, but for 125 bucks for each sport for students is a little too high if you ask me. Add on top of that Cyclone Alley fees and Alumni Association we are getting ripped off. I still hit most of the games but I really have no problem if people don't show up, why should they? Fool me once, Shame on me, Fool me twice shame on you. For a little history lesson of my experience of Iowa State basketball lets have a look.

I have seen 18 conference wins since 2006. One of those was an upset against KSU. I've seen ISU go 4-8 against in-state teams (not counting last nite, including a 30 point lost to Drake). Upset by South Dakota State along with losses to several teams that ISU should or could beat every once in a while. I have seen blowouts in Hilton that should have never happened and I have seen ISU lose to Colorado and Nebraska a lot. I have never seen ISU beat someone they shouldn't but I have seen plenty of games that we should have won and lost, games that were not really even competitive. I have seen more players leave than fingers and toes that I have. I witnessed Cyclone Alley be born ( and hopefully die). I have been to 3 big 12 tournaments with 0 wins. I have seen boring basketball along with boring games and a lot of losses and NO UPSETs in Hilton. Why should people pay money to go to games now? Obviously 12,000 people bought tickets so I don't know why some are complaining. If I could afford to buy season tickets I wouldn't care if I went to see a losing product and that is what has been happening lately. Make it worth watching and people will show up. Even students that have 74 tests a week and work 83 hours a week will show up, but why waste money until there is a proven product? We got fooled the last 4 seasons.

You make valid points but I am not sure how you can claim that more students have jobs now than in the past. I don't know anyone that didn't work in school. Hell, I had two jobs. You aren't going to get much sympathy that it is harder now than when the older generation went to school. Many time saving aspects of school now compared to the good old days.

Don't these contradict each other?
