Just decided to buy Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood from Amazon (for myself from my wife for Christmas) for 39.99 + free 2 day shipping with Amazon Prime.

Been playing the heck out of AC2 this week. Even have the wife interested in learning how to play.

Did my 3D TV deal on buydig.com for a pittance. Beats waiting in line at Best Buy or WalMart.

Nope. The wife doesn't get all caught up in it and she has to work all weekend including tomorrow. I didn't see anything worth going out and fighting the crazy people. Amazon has had just as good of deals (no tax + free shipping + shopping at home).
I just got the new Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit game for my 360, bought it off Best Buy's website for 34.00...their Black Friday deal  I have no idea why people waste their time and sleep by shopping in stores.

Does anyone know how these deals work if you are already in WalMart before midnight? Do they suddenly announce "deals on" and everyone rushes into line?

I'm sure Walmart will be like last year where you wait inside in a line waiting for midnight for them to bring out the item you want. I waited in the booze aisle for a tv last year. I've seen Best Buy do something similar. For the big items it's pretty efficient. For the little stuff it's still every dirtbag for himself. Beats waiting outside.

So to follow up on my question, do they just start lines early for particular items?

Toys, clothes and other small items go on sale at midnight. I'm not sure how that all starts.

The "doorbuster" items--mostly the more expensive electronics--go on sale at 5 AM. They place their entire stock of an item on a palette in a designated area in the store, and you have to get in line for that item. At 5:00, they let people start picking up the items.

If you're going to do it, get there really early. Last year, I foolishly thought I could walk in to get a laptop an hour beforehand. When I got there, the parking lot was nearly full and I was told by employees that there were already more people in line than they had items in stock. I don't think I'm going to try that again unless I find a really good deal on something I really want to buy (and this year I haven't seen one).

Already ordered a ladder from Lowes. Was nice to be able to just order the 'doorbuster' price online on Thursday! Not as much fun as electronics and video games. What can I say, I'm old and have **** to do :)

Thanks, I'm contemplating sneaking in about midnight to grab a few small items. Not going to deal with the 5 am mess.

Just logged on from being gone all day, and already bought two things:

Amazon.com: Game Deals
Assassin's creed brotherhood $40 ($20 after a credit i had on there from their black ops promotion)

The Big One Bath Towels!
Towels for about $2.50 shipped after promo codes EXTRA20 and contactfr

I should probably just log off now... i'm guessing once the big ticket item sales start up i'll go bankrupt saving money
