in north central Iowa you have 2 choices for towns over 10,000 people ... Ft Dodge or Mason City.

with that comparison Mason is a shining wonderland of delight.
If I knew how boring Mason City was before I attended NIACC for 2 years, I would have started my college career elsewhere.

its all relative - to people up there from towns of a couple hundred to a couple thousand Mason City is pretty happening. in fact, I think that's the entire premise of the movie "Cedar Rapids".

and not to be a hater, but if you were starting at NIACC you hadn't explored your options very well or you needed to start at NIACC.

even then - at least its not ICCCCC in Ft Dodge, there's always a silver lining.

Just for the sake of distancing one's self from Ft Dodge, I'm just going to go ahead and say Ft Dodge is far enough south that it's just "Central" Iowa.

Thee Harlan, Ia

Not to hate on Harlan, but I found this funny. They are good and arrogant just like Thee Ohio State.

I think they 50 pointed us every game from middle school through high school. well most teams did too to be honest, but it wasn't usually before halftime like Harlan did.

I'd say its pretty widely excepted that north of HWY 20 (which ft dodge is) is Northern.

Hwy 20 - Interstate 80 is Central

south of 80 is Southern Iowa

that's the way the bible divides it anyway.

Hwy 30 is about dead center.

I just go by counties, anyways. Humboldt County = Northern Iowa, Webster = Central That's how the Register's farmland price guide did it when I was a kid, and that's how I learned the geography of the state.

And we all know the Register's farmland price guide is the bible in this state.

yes, hwy 30 is dead center ... dead center in central Iowa (between 20 & 80).

counties are ghey - why don't you reference townships while were at it. its 2011, use cities or get out.

Those heathens in Ft Dodge are segregated from North Central Iowa. They are Central Central Iowa. According to our alma mater.

wow - its like they drew the line specifically to exclude them (or rather include them in Central Central ... who would want that?) I assume the guy with the sharpie was wasted. The line follows 20 for the most part except the central part - whats upw with that?

and it does follow 80 too I think.
