Its going to be massive. A buddy of mine showed me a rendering of what it will look like from the other side of the pic posted in this thread. He has inside knowledge on it, and it's going to be really nice.

I ran some calculations being bored at work and here are some rough numbers I came up with. They may be off, but kind of rough estimate.

Taller than 10 bball hoops piled on top of eachother
-I went 13' from AFF to top of Backboard so=130' tall

Size screen is 5x larger than the one we have now
-The one we have now is 26.5'x20.5'=543sf
-543sf x 5=2716 roughly
-HD screen dimensions 16x9 ratio gives width of 70', height of 40'

I just rough guessed width of pressbox from 30 yd line to 30 yd line=120'
-1/3rd times larger than that will put the structure at roughly 160' wide total

Scaled Jacobson Building off of FPM website to be roughly 100' wide at end closest to field
-If structure is 8 ft. wide that puts 160/2=80', 80'-50'(half of jake), 30'-8' (support)=22'b/w structure and jake for sidewalk. However, I believe the width of the sidewalk in place now will be the same width of when the scoreboard is finished. I hope at least.

Estimated height of the jake at roughly 3 floors x 15' + 10 feet at ends where windows are tallest so total height of 55-60'.
-If scoreboard is 130' tall minus the 40' tall screen minus 10' ad space above/below screen would put roughly 10' b/w top of the jake and bottom of the scoreboard structure.

Total structure is 160' wide roughly with screen width of 70' and 8' supports running up on both sides.
-Leaves about 35' x 60' ad space on both ends if they decide to do all ads on the sides instead of stats nad put stats on video board.

I do believe it will be steel supports on both sides due to the time frame and cost involved. There would be an immense amount of hours involved in tieing rebar, placing formwork, setting up scaffold, and pour concrete for it to be efficient. A steel crew can come in with crane and a few JLG lifts and bang the supports out in a short time.

Kind-of wishing it was attached or "appeared" to be attached to the Jake. This thing doesn't come close to the Jacobson building. Still love it though.

According to the stats, and wikipedia, the screen size of 2851 sq ft will make this video board the 15th largest in the NCAA, just ahead of Oregon.

Looks very climbable on after a big title win......hhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmm. Maybe when we win the Big 12 Title the video board will become climbed on instead of the indestructable goal post.

I noticed the current board will be used in some capacity (such as game statistics and other in-game messages) in its present location for the foreseeable future...

GoShow97.

How ****** is he going to be? If we don't go undefeated this year he will be calling JP day and night telling him how stupid he is. Then he will turn his attack dogs on the rest of us on CF who love this project. :twitcy:

I agree. It definitely looks like the add-on that it is. I was hoping it would be more incorporated into the Jake.

Where are the speakers in this design? I thought the sound system was getting an upgrade too? I wonder if the speakers are designed into the black outings on each side of the board.

the press release from daktronics (the company installing the board).

It also has a picture from the field that doesn't cut off the bottom 1/3 of the Jac and IMO gives a better idea of how it will look ratio wise with the building and surroundings.
