Does anybody know whether you can see the new videoboard from any of the ticket lines? It would be great to watch highlights or interviews while waiting in line.

I wish someone could get a shot of it from the student lots and upload it for us who can't make it to Ames? Please!

A scoreboard in the proportion of the logos + video board would look stupid. You stay somewhat close to 16:9 or it starts to look goofy as hell.

Seriously? I doubt it will hardly ever play full screen video so the aspect ratio isn't really an issue. If we had piles of money and made the entire thing a video board (except for some speaker space) you could show the logos (and change them on the fly!), show more stats, show ads, whatever you want to do. It certainly would not look "goofy as hell".

From the south side of the stadium, it looks impossible for there to be a football field between the two scoreboards. As it's been said here 1,000 times before, pictures do not do it justice. Simple as that.

That looks amazing. I have the webcam up now and they are showing highlights from something. I can't wait to see this in person.

If I did take a picture from the student lots, you would see the trees block the new scoreboard unless you are really close to the entrance of the student lots.

So where are you putting the speakers if the video board is extended? Honestly, I always thought Jack Trice had a sound problem, not a video problem (although, outside of major replays, I'm not a person that sees much use for the huge boards).

And if you're only planning to put in stats and more ads, is it really worth it? Ads are still rotated on the current board and a larger size likely wouldn't sell for much more (and certainly wouldn't pay for the difference in cost for a larger board). The smaller scoreboards around the arena are perfect in my mind for scrolling stats and out-of-town games.

I agree. Sound >>> Video board for gameday atmosphere. I can't wait to hear the entrance music with some decent speakers.

I will enjoy finally being able to see the Kiss-Cam in glorious HD though.

Right now they are showing what it would look like with all of the add space filled up. Still pretty big.
