Idk, I just watched the Illinois vs. Baylor game on the BTN. Count me as one thats not scared.

Yeah, that was ugly. This year, Baylor could win and probably should win vs ISU, but we'll see. CPR has a way of getting the team ready to play on the road and ISU could very easily pull off a W.

Baylor had some good teams under Grant Teaff. I believe they won 2 SWC titles. At the time the SWC was one of the best conferences too. One year coach Teaff ate a worm in his pregame speech against mighty Texas to help his team relax and play loose. It worked as they won. Anyway, yeah I think as longs as Art. B. is there Baylor is going to be pretty good.

2009- No RG3 and tons of injuries as well on defense and NFL drafted RB Jay Finley. Despite all this it was a 14 point final score with almost identical yards per play. Give us RG3 and we likely win IMO.

This game wasn't nearly as close as the score indicated. ISU was in control throughout the game, and Art decided to start calling timeouts during garbage time just to try to get a score to get rid of the shutout while everyone wanted to just get out of the stadium and celebrate. I remember him getting boo'd heartily while calling those timeouts and trying to chuck the ball all over the place while down by 21 points with less than 2 minutes left in the game.

With RG3 it may have been a closer game, but it wouldn't have been a Baylor win.

We are greatly improved this year. I think we win easily.

Using that same logic, Iowa State is greatly improved this year. I think we win easily.

I'm sorry, but Baylor just doesn't scare me. Perhaps they'll beat us, but it's going to take much more than one minor bowl appearance for me to be scared by a team like Baylor.

I'd maybe be scared of Baylor as a TEAM this year, provided that RG3 is playing. With him, they're dangerous. But as a PROGRAM? They have a ways to go before I'd say that they're someone to fear.

Agree to disagree as I feel with him we'd have at worst broken 20 points if not more.

Either way looking forward to playing you guys more often in all sports.

Sammy, unless you were in Ames, you didn't watch the ISU/Baylor game in '09.

Most of us did.

Baylor was never in it, and don't forget that our back up QB played the entire second half. You narrowed the score on a garbage touchdown as time expired.

I saw the fox sports replay of it where it had at least 80% of it. The fact is our 2009 team was as bad of an offense as NU was that year and both our 2008 and 2010 offenses would have performed just fine and the difference was at QB.

We would have at least broken 20.

You might have broken 20, but I'm guessing we would have been a lot more aggressive calling plays if you had RGIII. We controlled that game, but never ran up the score.

It's not like Arnaud was overly successful when being aggressive. Mistakes tend to happen when you get more aggressive. Not saying ISU would have lost, but just because the playcalling would have been more aggressive doesn't necessarily mean that things wouldn't have been much different.

Arnaud was playing very well against Baylor before getting injured that night.

That injury kept him out of nearly 3 games, and I think really hurt his development in Herman's system.

ISU could have run up the score in that game and clearly chose not too.

I tend not to get too into these arguments but I agree with Al_4_State here, that game was never in doubt and was thoroughly dominated by ISU and was never really competitive.

No doubt RG III would have helped, but ISU wasn't losing to Baylor that day.

I still believe RG3 is one of the most overrated QBs out there. Not alot about him scares me or do I find impressive.

I just found this again today and had to laugh.

10-3 with the Heisman trophy, Davey O'Brien trophy and All-American of the year. 4,657 total yards. 192.3 efficiency rating.
36 touchdowns and only 6 interceptions.

10,071 career yards, 77 touchdowns and 17 interceptions.

You're pretty hard to impress. I'm sure you still think Arnaud is better. :twitcy:

Art Briles and Scott Drew are very similar. Get good recruits, but the results don't speak for themselves. Sure the talent is there, but it doesnt matter how much talent you have if you can't coach it.

I do think Briles is a pretty good coach, but for the talent he is getting, the results dont show it.

10-3 doesn't show it?

ahhhh, someone is sad their star has burned up so their going around to opponent message boards drumming up old threads. Dont worry, in another 100 years youll have another heisman candidate.

The scary thing is, for all of what they have achieved in football (10-3 season, quarterback winning a HEISMAN), and men's basketball, those aren't even their best sports. Their women's basketball program not only has a recent notional championship, but has a win over arguably the best women's basketball program of all time. Their athletic program, taken as a whole, is light years above ours.
