Just came across via local news here that Bubba Starling signed with the Kansas City Royals just before the 11pm deadline, officially declining the offer to be a QB at Nebraska as well as play on their baseball team...

No surprise there. It would have been incredibly foolish to have turned down that kind of money. I'm hearing he got a three-year deal for $7.5 to $8 million. Not sure how much is guaranteed.

This.

I'm no Nebraska fan, but I'd have loved to see this guy play football instead of baseball. Hard to turn down that kind of cash though.

Yeah, any kid who turns down MLB money to play college football is making a bad decision. Apart from the money angle, 50 year old baseball players generally can still walk and don't have dementia. And if baseball doesn't work out, the football eligibility is still there afterwards.

Baseball America reports the deal is a 3 year, $7.5 million. Which is a good deal for the Royals seeing as Starling originally was asking for $10 million in signing bonus alone! I'm sure the full story will come out tomorrow at their press conference...

It's all guaranteed. Not surprising that he chose baseball (and the money) I think most baseball people expected this.

As news of the signing made its way to the Nebraska Athletics Complex Bo Pelini immediately choked his secretary until she was out cold. Then much like he always does Carl walked into the office and seeing the poor woman on the ground began kicking her viciously and screaming at her to "TURN THAT ******* CAMERA OFF".

Nebraska AD Tom Osborne had no comment on the incident.

Bubba has a three year contract for $8M. After he fails in the Royals org, he can come back and be a star qb for Nebraska just like that Florida 26 year old Chris Wenke did. Of course, he will be throwing fastballs to the receivers.

Does this mean they need Cobra Green back from Texas to play qb in case Martinez is injured? I mean, Bubba was the future for Nebby.

Can't believe he went with the lower salary.
