Des Moines is not Iowa State's town....

Okay.

I just think it's stupid to base an opinion on something so subjective, especially when real numbers paint a different picture. Also, why would there be any buzz about the SEC? Mizzou officials say no offer has been extended, and SEC media idiots like this do nothing but turn Mizzou fans off to the idea.

He feeds an incorrect, uninformed, and lazy stereotype that Mizzou is waiting by the phone for Slive to call but Deaton and Alden have squashed every rumor of Mizzou to the SEC.

This guy's a moron.

This is likely true but the perception is definitely out there that Mizzou does not have a rabid fanbase. That is a big part of the reason ISU jumped the Tigers two years ago for the Insight Bowl. Whether right or wrong, that is the perception and it is likely to continue just like ISU has to deal with the perception that we add nothing to any AQ conference and we are the worst or close to the worst BCS school athletically.

Both perceptions are uninformed and moronic.

Btw, just saw this on tigerboard.

KOMU livestream News @5 on Facebook said that Blumberg has confirmed that OU's plane was for sure in Columbia on Sunday but no university official is talking officially about who was on board. That's all know not very much sorry.

Secondly, the University of Missouri isn't all that interested in the SEC. *Missouri is a Midwestern state, not a Southern state.

I'd say he's half right. Midwestern state north of I-70, Southern state south of I-70.

Classic. Love it.

I think Mizzou would only jump at an SEC offer if it felt it had no other choice. The B1G was different, it was a conference it could compete in and be the Southern most member in (good for recruiting). It had an established rival (Illinois) and potential rivals (Nebby and Iowa). It had academic prestige and widespread distribution that was evenly split. On the other hand, the SEC is a buzz saw and Mizzou would be the northern most member. Ask Kentucky and Vandy how that's working out for them. They'd also go from having 1-2 games per year in Texas to having 1 game every other year (and no games against UT). Since Columbia is more mid-west than South, they'd probably have less fit culturally and add no academic prestige and know they'd be walking into a conference full of cheaters. The SEC has the same built in advantages for the Floridas of the conference on the third tier as does the Big 12.

Since staying in the Big 12 means just as much money and a chance to compete for championships, I think Mizzou stays put in their own self interest. Now if the B1G came calling...

Great reporting by KOMU. We already confirmed this last night. It was clearly an OU plane in Columbia.

Sources tell Orangebloods.com Texas A&M will formally withdraw from the Big 12 on Tuesday, setting up the Aggies' application to the #SEC.

This is from BYU chat... LEHI cougar seems to know his stuff. I tend to believe him based on prior things he's said. Take it for what it's worth...

LEHI cougar: An invite has been extended, and a BOT meeting is tentatively set for Wed. to discuss the merits of the offer etc. Pres. Cecil S. sought approval to act on BYUs best interest, much like the Chancelor at TAMU did, however he was denied that (not surprisingly)

LEHI cougar: oh, forgot, the invite is not the official written offer, that can't/won't be sent until they get a positive response and TAMU officially leaves

Looks like the Big XII must feel pretty confident that they have somebody on the line.

The Big 12 sure as heck better have something in the works. It's not as if this is shocking news that blindsided them.

If Beebe hasn't been working behind the scenes getting some teams lined up, then he's more worthless than I thought he was.

While ATM is a good school and all - BYU would be a fine addition and brings in new TV territory and less Texas in general. With any luck BYU will be a much better conference team player.

Bebe probably just heard about the aggies today.

Naw, he just heard that theyre upset over something called the 'longhorn network' today. He'll likely hear about TAMU leaving in time for christmas.

I will be happy if BYU joins, and hope to make it out to a game out there.
