By all indications, the Big 12 is not going to implode now that Tx A&M is officially leaving. What remains to be seen if the remaining members will sign a contractual obligation to stay in the conference for a certain number of years, so expansion candidates won't have such cold feet if offered membership. The "honor system" has failed dramatically; it's time for more concrete commitments from the Big 12 membership. If the membership does sign a contractual obligation, then welcome to the Big 12, BYU.

Sure, the SEC isn't the PAC, but I don't think it's going to be an easy road for anyone with 14/16 team leagues. Touche, though.

Yeah, but if im looking for a manageable yet respectable schedule, i'm picking the PAC-16 east (OSU\TTU\UT\ASU\UA\CU\Utah) over the SEC west.

IF the big twelve is going to survive I think the theme song for the conference is eye of the tiger okay maybe not, but get back to twelve teams damn it.

The race is on my friends I could see us heading to the big east if all else fails. Get the big east to twelve teams and have divisions and stay AQ status with a championship game. Or the big ten (and yes i am serious.)
I believe ISU will apply to the Big 10 if the Big 12 blows up; that's a natural fit. If the Big 10 says no, then the Big East. If Mizzou applies and is accepted to the Big 10 then ISU's chances increase as that conference probably would expand to fourteen; ISU would be a logical choice more than KU, or KSU. Mizzou's desires are almost exclusively on joining the Big 10. If the Big 12 dissolves, by logical reasoning Mizzou will apply to the Big 10, and I believe ISU can join with them.

I won't believe that ISU has any chance to be a member of the Big 10-ever.

Well ISU fits geographically, academically, and the whole state of Iowa would bring the tv sets because you would have Iowa and Iowa State on every weekend. Plus travel expense would not go up dramatically because of location.

We don't add any t.v. sets. The only thing that matters is football. If we are indeed as good of fit for the Big 10 as you claim we are, we would have been in the Big 10 years ago. They don't want us, and I don't blame them.

It would be like a little signing bonus, you know like in the workforce come work for us and we will give you a thousand bucks.

Well today will be fun, I think if the league is willing to stay together then sign on the freakin dotted line so other teams know that you are serious if they want to join.

ISU could have joined the Big 10 way back in the day, but wanted to go their own direction (the Missouri Valley Athletic Conference [not the MVC], AKA the Big 6/Big 8). If ISU ends up homeless, I'm sure the Big 10 Board of Directors will give ISU's application serious consideration along with Missouri's. If Mizzou is accepted, the Big 10 probably will want to add a fourteenth member and ISU would be the most logical choice both geographically and academically assuming ND turns the Big 10 down yet again (which ND probably will). The UT/ND conference scenario doesn't seem likely to form at all now. If that conference forms, then I'm sure ISU will be counted among its membership.

First, If we are going to give members money to join we should have kept Gene Chizik because he is good at giving prospects money.... JP we don't want Chizik.

Second, if we get Louisville then we better beat them all the time because their Cardinal doesn't even have a tornado.
