There would be a significant financial gain in the SEC for Mizzou IMO. Their TV deals will dwarf what the Big 12 will ever land.

What kind of deal do you think the SEC has? Do you know the difference between school payouts between the SEC and Big 12.

The most I have found is the SEC TV contracts from CBS and ESPN total about $17.46 million for 12 teams when divided equally.

With our new deal with Fox and the current deal with ESPN, we are equal if not more than that, anywhere from 18 - 20 million, and the FOX deal is equal revenue sharing. The ESPN deal is the only deal that is not.

I'm no expert, so if you know differently, I would be interested to know.

I'm not going to dig back through this mess, but there's an NYT piece posted in here that showed that A&M will not make a significant financial gain in the SEC.

NYT has about as much reliability as Liucci, except its clear their 'source' is in the texas AD somewhere.

I said this earlier in this epic thread too. People who disagree with you simply can't do the math/geography correctly.

Each of the 4 base leagues needs to add 6-8 teams, some teams with facilities much worse than ISU's would be getting invites. If there's some impetus to hit 18 or 20 the Big Ten would be very fortunate to end up with ISU. It's not like the SEC, ACC and Pac Ten are just going to give the Big Ten first pick out of 24-32 available teams.

Let's say the Big Ten got it's wet dream, Notre Dame, and 2-3 awesome schools in brand new markets before the SEC/ACC/P12 can get them. They still need to fill out spots. They're going to want the large enrollment school with good facilities located exactly in the middle of 3-4 of their existing schools.

With 16 it would depend on the order of expansion. If the SEC and ACC were to beat them to the punch it would still be pretty likely. With 18 or 20 anything but traditional B10 grouping doesn't makes sense.

The momentum to make super conferences is on. Two years from now, 16 team conferences will be the norm. The Big Ten and Pac Ten will not idly sit around while the SEC tries to get bigger.

Pac Ten - Fox
Big Ten - CBS for bball
SEC - ESPN/ABC
Big 12 - Fox
ND - lagging NBC

Cm'n TBS, WGN, get bidding.

As bad as the NYT is, I still give them far more credibility than the message board operator who has an anonymous source. All that financial information is public record as well, so I am sure the Times got it right.

With any luck we will be there by Tuesday.

A&M is a very logical choice for them in that case. They pose no threat to the SEC schools as far as competition in athletics goes, they swing open the door to recruit more in Texas, and no kid in SEC country that is worth anything at all will choose A&M over an SEC school. I guess I should give the SEC more credit in all of this as they are playing A&M like a banjo.

Yeesh!! There really need to start being repercussions for all this bad journalism going around. Seriously, people need to start getting fired. Newspapers haven't needed excuses the last few years. My guess is this guy is gone.

http://espn.go.com/college-sports/s...n-denies-school-sent-withdrawal-letter-big-12

The brief statement by school spokesman Jason Cook comes a day after The New York Times said in a story posted on its Web site Monday night that university president R. Bowen Loftin sent a letter to Missouri chancellor and Big 12 board chairman Brady Deaton to inform the league it was leaving. The report cited two unidentified college officials with direct knowledge of the decision.

Unless this is a journalist that is willing to name his sources, then he's not going to get fired. The NY Times author did his due diligence and has sources to back it up.

Huh? How do we know he has any sources? because he said so? The guy who is in charge of the looking at A/M said they are not withdrawing right now. So his sources were bogus. He should be fired, I am sorry. Unless you are willing to put your name next to a statement, you are not a credible source. This isn't a matter of personal safety, so they should be willing to do that. Or better yet, don't give a statement.

Really? Firing a guy because it was a phone call and not a letter? Overreact much?
