Would there be any hope of trying to get A&M to stay and additionaly pull in two more teams to get back to 12?

I think that is the heart of why A&M doesn't want to stay. They didn't get enough of their say on the Future of the conference. Texas gets top billing and Oklahoma gets a conference without a title game. What was aTm's slice of the Big deciding pie other than a paycheck? At least in the SEC, they get as big if not bigger paycheck (depending on whay they have to pay to leave the Big 12), a rotating schedule that gives them cupcakes like Vandy, Kentucky, Miss St. and Ole Miss (the latter two are not as much cupcake anymore). They also get two less Conference game committments, so they could fill those games with home games for an easy win, or a potential big Rivalry game (like Texas) that would almost guarantee major media and TV coverage. It is playing ISU, KU, and KSU EVERY YEAR that is pushing them out. KSU is a tough game with little interest in Aggie country and little reward playing in Manhattan. ISU is similar to KSU now, and KU only has it's rewards in Basketball. The tough slate in the SEC at least comes with greater regional appeal. Sorry, it is just the facts, LSU and Ark have more appeal to Aggies than us. Plus there is more revenue there. The stadiums are larger, sell out more often, attract more viewers, and recently has had much larger success on the National Stage. I think if we wouldn't have bent over to Texas during reallignment last year, and just settled for what we had (and possibly listened to aTm more) we might have or have coming 2 more teams and a happy aTm.

Their fans can't read and have relations with farm animals as well, there's a lot of things in common with A&M

Stoops in his game presser said a 10 team league is fine but a 12 team league is better

he was talking about our schedule as well saying he is glad we schedule OOC like we do.

think he is worried not having ACCG will bite us at some point

I thought last year he was uber pumped about getting rid of the CCG and the increased odds of 2 teams in the BCS?

What has A&M done to deserve a "say" in the future of the conference equal to Texas or OU? A&M doesn't have the history of football success or national following of either of those schools. What is any school's slice of the "pie" aside from those top two schools? It's just money and as has been pointed out before, A&M will not increase their revenue significantly by moving to the SEC. Also, unless the SEC plays a 7 game conference schedule, they would only have 1 more out of conference game to work with.

I don't understand this importance some people have associated with the Aggies. They're a mid-level team in the Big 12, they don't deserve special privileges the elite teams earn.

Because it should be a conference of equal voices and it is not. That is a big reason we are in this mess right now.

A conference should be a number of schools that act as allies, not trying to screw each other out of every dollar and opportunity.

It wouldn't be equal voices if we caved to ATM either. The problem is the conference was formed in the modern era. The successful conferences have a century of precedence behind everything they do.

I haven't looked at this thread for weeks, but 4600 posts? That's nuts. I had to see what could still be said about this after that much chatter.

Not much.

I added nothing else - just a digit to the replies count...

No it shouldn't. Why should we get the same say as Texas? We don't bring near as much to the conference in any aspect of anything. That's fair. It would not be fair to have ISU, who brings little value at this point, carry the same weight as the gravy train that is Texas. I am an ISU homer, but we have to be somewhat realistic with this.

Name a single conference where every school has equal voices. The Big 10 and other conferences may have equal revenue sharing, but that does not mean that every school has an equal weight in decision making. You can bet that if Ohio State and Michigan want something in the Big 10 to happen, it's going to happen. They are the most powerful schools, their opinions therefore have the most weight. In my opinion, that's how it should be. Equal revenue sharing, but unequal power sharing so long as we all recognize we're in this together.

Bingo! A&M is a middle of the pack team with barely a .500 record in conference play in the Big XII historically. When they play the cream of the crop in Texas & OU they more often then not get crushed. Last summer when the "forgotten 5" offered up their portion of the CU and NU buyouts to Texas, OU, and A&M the Horns and Sooners both declined.... A&M was already running to the bank to cash the check. A&M is a fraud. They like to pretend they are a part of the college football elite but they aren't even close. Their fans do have something to be proud of though as they love to claim all of the time that their band always "wins" the halftime show.... whatever the hell that means. Congrats to the A&M band and we wish them well as they dominate halftime shows all over the South!

To be fair, the ISUCF"V"MB has also fallen back on that at times in an attempt to find something positive about the day. When you're in the middle of a 2-10 season you try to find anything that will make you feel less-bad about the day.

If that annoys you what really will annoy you is their 'Our team never loses, they just run out of time' crap.

I understand that but we don't brag about "winning" halftime shows. Is this some secret competition that nobody knows about? How does one "win" a halftime show? What are the rules of the competition? Are their judges? They take their band way too seriously down there. The next time I hear a Clone fan say "Well... Texas beat us by 8 touchdowns today but who cares... Our band dominated halftime, YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW!!!!!" it will be the first time.

Tammy has arguably the most annoying band and halftime show in the country. If that is winning, then our star trek themed halftime show a few years back had to have finished second at least.
