The OU fans I know all wish they had gone to the PAC last year.

Here is the thing with OU and the PAC: UT isn't going to the PAC unless something radically changes with their network, so neither will Tech or Baylor. You want to cut ties with Texas? I don't think so...Who would #15 and 16 be, if anybody? Think Mizzou is crazy about going to the PAC? Think KU is going to be able to detach itself from K-State? If the PAC stayed at 14, you want to be that geographically cut off from the rest of the conference?

I don't think anybody really knows what OU is thinking. Sure seems like they've been pretty committed to making this work, but things can change too. If I were them I'd at least give the Big 12 a shot for a while. What's the rush to head west. That offer will ALWAYS be out there, but once you blow up the Big 12 there is no going back. The worst that could happen is you stick with 9 teams for a year or two to show everyone that things are working and keep talking to other schools the whole way until they are convinced. There is no reason to rush into playing on the west coast all of the sudden because that option will never go away.

Exactly.

If the other 9 schools stay in the Big 12 for the mean time, and look to expand, what's Larry Scott going to do? Offer UNLV, Boise, New Mexico, and Montana State? No ******* way. They always have that contingency plan if they need.

In the mean time, there's a Big 12 as long as they want there to be one.

Yep. And ive never seen why just because one conference goes larger all of a sudden all the conferences absolutely have to go 16. For years and years we've had several conferences of different sizes. The big 10 was fine with 11 for a very long time, the SEC has been fine with 12, the big east has been at 8, etc.

Why the hurry to go to a conference format that is unproven at best at the top level, and when it was tried with the WAC, it completely failed? Why wouldnt some of them sit back and see how that whole 14-16 thing goes?

The media sure loves it, probably because they think itll bring the playoff they all push so ridiculously hard, but im not so sure the conferences themselves do. There are a LOT of issues that you create by going larger, and not nearly as many benefits.

I agree.

I think that there will be a "wait and see" thing. I think some conference will go to 16, but others will wait and see, because honestly, what do they have to lose in doing so?

The current models are working VERY WELL financially for every single league, yet there is some perception that it needs to be altered.

Key word.

You really have a Superconference boner, don't you?

No. I want the Big 12 to land BYU and stay together. I don't think I would like the results if the Superconferences happens. Just not sure this conference can stay together. Losing 3 teams in 2 years is not a good sign and you know MU would jump at any offer.

That is a good point. I really don't see OU leaving Texas. Plus I don't see Texas scrapping their TV deal.

You keep spewing half ***ed ideas as to why everything is falling apart. You look for the negative side of anything and run with it.

You might say you don't want super conferences, hell you might consciously think it, but at some level you want it.

Regarding Mizzou: they'd jump to the Big 10 at any chance. The Big 10. I don't think they jump for anyone else. They had a boner for the Big 10 last year. Note, they didn't pursue the Big East even though everyone knows that was an option. They aren't "get out of the Big 12 at all costs", they just want in the Big 10. ISU is the same way.

What I want is to pick up BYU, ND & PITT and end the superconference talk. I know it's a dream, but that's what I want.
