Jeremy closed that thread so this thread will always have an asterisk next to it.

Also, that thread spanned from 10/30/07 to 12/05/07 and covered anything & everything. This thread has only been going on since 8/11/11 and has stayed on one topic. I think this thread wins by default.

I've been thinking about this recently and was wondering what others thought about this scenario.
TAMU leaves and BYU says no thanks we want to stay independent.
Big 12 poaches Pitt, WVU, and Louisville. (any 3 big east teams but I figured this is most likely)
The Big East now has only 6 teams so what would happen with those remaining teams? Would they add C-USA and MAC teams to get to a better number? I think that situation would make the realignment very interesting at the non-BCS level.

I don't think adding non aq schools is in Iowa State's best interest. The last thing we want is to have more teams to compete against when the conference disbands.

The Big East is in as much danger as the Big 12 is of ceasing to exist. I think you might be on to something when you talk about taking three schools. But I think the best case in that scenario is for the BB only BE schools to form their own league, and let the fb schools join with the Big 12, and try to create a more stable entity.

I don't even think that geography can play any role in this. The schools that can be poached by the fox 12, and acc, will go there. It will leave a handful of schools that can be incorporated into whatever the Big 12 eventually evolves into.

Whatever happens, we need to make sure that UT considers us a worthy ally.

I completely agree. I think the Big East has far less options if any of the Big 12 takes some of its schools. They don't have many bargaining tools and many schools aren't extremely attractive to most other BCS conferences.

OrangeBloods saying BYU still in play as of last night

Just a question, why do we have to wait for TAMU to officially say they are leaving before inviting BYU or any other schools? Why couldn't we try to officially secure some invites and be proactive? I know it is probably about the exit fees or things that I have limited understanding of. But just wondered what everyone thought or any insight.

Thanks.

Because we would all lose money. The networks said they would keep our tv contact money the same for 10 teams as 12. If we add a team we will all get a smaller price, so there is no point until we lose one. If you haven't figured it out yet, ALL of this realignment stuff for over a year is ONLY about money and TVs, the bigXII included.

I am speculating that you don't want to improve the conference before aTm leaves in order to be sure that you can rake in the exit fees from aTm. Adding in another team before they have officially left would likely put some sort of void in the current contractual obligations and the whole theory that aTm leaving the conference is a financial hindrance to the rest of the conference.

For what it's worth...T Boone Pickens threw out the first pitch at the Texas Rangers game last night. In an interview after the game, he said as far as he knew A&M had not yet made a decision, and he hopes they decide to stay in the Big 12.

Maybe T-Boone can just buy the university. That would show them.

Whatever happens I think the most important thing to remember about aggie is that they ejaculate into jars that they set on top of a bonfire and burn only after they beat females who come near said bonfire.

Also, only half of this "Corps of Cadets" become actual military officers meaning that half of this so called "Corps" are merely playing dress-up. i can't think of many things more punk-***ed than that.

Add these to the goons that comprise their all male cheer squad and you have a program that I want nowhere near Ames, JTS or my beloved Cyclones let alone my family.

Enjoy the SEC beatings in your future, aggie. Put that in a jar and burn it.

BYU could possibly be digging their own grave if they say NO to the BIG 12. It is the only option for them to be in a BCS conference and could really **** themselves if things go crazy.

A Pac invite will never be there and the B1G and the SEC are to far away. I would hope some of the higher ups see this as a huge opportunity to finally have place at the table.

Actually, I'd rather not remember these little factoids... :err:
