I think we add BYU and stick with 10 until we can find 2 more viable options.

What would be balanced divisions with a Big XII minus TAMU and with BYU/NM/AF?

I'll take a stab:
Prairie Division
OU
OSU
BYU
KU
KSU
ISU

Plains Division
Texas
Mizzou
BYU
TTU
Baylor
NM
AF

Easiest would be a north of BYU, AF, ISU, MU, KSU, KU, South of Tx, TTU, OU, OSU, Bay, NM.

I think he meant "balance" as in terms of power.

We already had a hippie school in the conference (CU). Do we want another one?

*Disclaimer - my opinions of the residents of New Mexico are based on my interactions of the Mountain Hippie People in Taos/Red River/Etc.

there are plenty of hippie ISU faithful as well. the dude abides.

IMO, in order not to precipitate a massive conference realignment fiasco, the Big12 expansion committee is looking to add members that are independent, and/or members of non-AQ conferences like the MWC, WAC, etc. So the most likely additions will not be from the Big East as that will precipitate that conference's demise, and the Big12 bigwigs don't want blood on their hands. My call is BYU, Air Force, and Houston; although I'd prefer UCF instead of Houston, but there's no evidence that anyone from the Big12 has talked to them about joining.
