If they go the protected rival route I hope we remind the Big 12 of our long and storied rivalry with Baylor.

Attempting to slightly put this thread back on track:

Does anyone know what was solidified in the negotiations with the remaining 10 following the departure of CU & NU?

I was reading a few blogs and it appears that it is in the absolute interest to A&M that the Big 12 dissolves, otherwise they stand to lose out on up to $28M in revenue pay outs.

Last year with the South heading out to the PAC, the argument was brought up that if only 5 remain then the conference dissolves and nobody is owed anything. Was this hammered out last summer? If the AD's and school president's didn't solidify and make harsher penalties for exit, shame on them!

OK, I'm going to assume it is, but can anyone tell me if the A&M jar thing (and the whole keeping the ladies out) is actually true? Because although I already know that Aggies are insane, I didn't think they were capable of something that ridiculous.

Was the plane on a treadmill? Did it take off?

I was dejected, so I didn't see it take off. I left to eat away the pain.

What did they do. Get their applicants off Craig's list? These are three high altitude teams. Our bball players will be gassed.

No worries, I have it from a good source that the ISU aerospace engineering department is currently outfitting a modified 747 with a basketball court so our guys can train at 35K feet. Imagine that recruiting tool...we'll bring our facilities to you!

No, we want to convince them that our new rival is New Mexico. They are terrible.

I have a really hard time believing that Air Force & New Mexico give the market penetration necessary to justify expanding to 12 schools.

No way those two schools capture enough viewers to not lose ISU money by expanding to 12.
