Getting back to the original thread. This would be the second league in 15 years that Texas has destroyed.

I still don't understand how this Texas's fault. I am no fan of the horns but what exactly have they done? They don't have the wandering eye. OU does (reportedly).

Unequal tv sharing? Still not sure why this is wrong. Regardless, the other schools agreed to it.

The longhorn network? Why is it wrong for them to capitalize on their strong brand? They offered a&m a chance to share. And OU is trying to do the same. Why is it Texas's fault that OU can't get it going?

I guess they are an easy target because they are the top dog but I still don't get why. You can bet that if ISU could get a network with ESPN, we would be for it.

This... I say if we have to dance, we'll pick the two fat girls as I don't care as Long as ISU stays in the Big 12. Really, are we arguing who we want to bring to keep our conference stable...OMG you F'n people... You should be hoping the f/n mess stays together.

The more I think about the more I'm thinking like this.
No matter how you cut it the b12 is not stable right now. Far far from it.
So unless we start hearing from Pollard about some great plans for us to be the ones jumping ship we had damn well better hope this ship stays afloat some how.

No. OU is looking to jump ship. They may be gone real soon.

Yes, this is the key. Everyone is focused on who we can bring in, but fact of the matter is that if OU jumps ship the ship is sunk. No way the Big 12 survives. I hope that maybe they are just posturing but 2 days ago the nine were "committed" to the Big 12. Something in the dynamics has changed since then, and Oklahoma is basically saying we're looking out for ourselves now. All that will accomplish is making everyone jittery and the mistrust on which the league was essentially founded, and Colorado and Nebraska were lucky enough to jump away from first, will eventually lead to the demise of the conference. I'm not a doom and gloom type of guy, but the change in tone just today from Oklahoma, Missou, and Tex Tech really is changing my hope from being able to real in BYU, to hoping we land in an AQ conference. I hope :sad:my thoughts are wrong.

I'm not putting much stock in this whole thing but IF BYU, AF and TCU were the teams I'm guessing the divisions would be:

East
Iowa State
Kansas
Kansas State
Missouri
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State

West
Air Force Academy
Baylor
Brigham Young
Texas
Texas Christian
Texas Tech

That adds some nice balance to the conference by splitting up Texas and Oklahoma. I'm sure everyone will say the Red River Rivalry would be a sticking point but OU and Nebraska had a storied yearly rivalry with Nebraska that they gave up. Otherwise I could see the Big XII having one "fixed" cross divisional rival and then a rotating basis for the other two games. Something like:

Texas/Oklahoma
Texas Tech/ Okie St.
Brigham Young/ Kansas St.
TCU/Kansas
Baylor/Mizzou
Air Force/ Iowa State

Like I said, not really buying the story, but it's everybody else plays "what if" so why not.

If this were true, I'd agree with your divisions. Stoops is on record as saying he wanted as easy a path as possible to a championship game. This would give OK some perceived "easy" games in the conference and then they could promote TX/OK for a championship game. I could see this as a good compromise. Not huge on the 3 teams added, but don't hate it either.

The dynamic is reporters hounding them with questions. They are contingency planning. Nothing more than that.

Problem for OU/TX is the possibility of having to beat the other twice in one season.

TCU....Their whole program is Gary Patterson, and eventually he will get plucked out of there for greener pastures. Would be crazy to add TCU.

If TCU loses to Baylor tonight then they are back to being ****** at everything and we should say no....? just kidding of course. We need to sit and pray that the Big12 stays together and go from there.

NORMAN, Okla. | University of Oklahoma president David Boren said Friday that multiple conferences have shown interest in the Sooners and he expects to decide whether to leave the Big 12 within the next three weeks.
Boren said Friday that he has received “interest from other conferences and other universities, so it's really a tribute to the strength of our program at the University of Oklahoma that there is so much interest in us.”
Boren said Oklahoma will carefully evaluate its options and suggested the process could take as little as three days but likely no longer than three weeks.
Texas A&M announced this week that it planned to leave the Big 12 after this season, assuming the Aggies are accepted into the Southeastern Conference. That would reduce the 10-team league to nine members.

Every other conference is seeking out new markets and we are donating a spot to a market we already own?? If true, we know why this conference is doomed.

Maybe not ideal, but at least the remaining Big 8 teams would be together and it would be cool to play AF each year.

OU comments sound a lot like the comments made from various AD's after the Big 12 meetings last summer. Very unsure, trying to avoid saying anything without flat out lying

Maybe they are just posturing, I hope they stay, but that didn't sound good to me.

3 weeks. Well, should be able to get this thread to 15-20k posts then.

I could see the B12 wanting to split the Texas teams and try to balance the divisions. Similar to the BIG10.

The most troubling part of this is that the OU and MU presidents are the lead men for the Big 12 "expansion committee." I'm thinking they are finding that no one is interested in the Big 12 because it's just too unstable.

As a result, they are looking for the nearest exit.

I know many of you are worried about ISU's future. This OU announcement makes me more concerned for the future of MU than at any time during this 15 month expansion nightmare.

See...I honestly have completely the opposite opinion that his comments seemed clear to me that he wants the B12 to survive. If that can't happen, then OU needs to know their other options.

Bottom line, I still read that as OU having the B12 as option 1 first and foremost.

What? Mizzou is fine. We are the ones that should be worried.

I thought the same thing. Basically I think OU is going to see who the Big 12 is going to add and if they don't get what they want, they will listen to other offers. I think if BYU says yes, the Big 12 stays together. If not, I am not so optimistic....
