I'm no fan of Beebe either, but it's not often you find a conference/league commissioner that people like/respect or don't frequently poke fun at and/or think that person doesn't have a clue.

Notably in college athletics. Conference commissioners or whatever you want to call them are more like cat herders than anything else.

Agree with this 100 percent.

putting the blame for what is going on on Beebe's head is just scapegoat behavior. He can only do what his bosses allow him to do, the universities. A lot of times, the most successful board facilitators are the ones who do things behind the scenes. His hands are tied, and he can only do what the Board wants him to do. He can advise them, provide strategic guidance, etc. but again, he answers to the universities' leadership.

Baylor is sure being awfully noisy.

Sure seems like they are grasping at straws. Last year, when it seemed that the end of the Big XII was near, didn't GG and JP issue a statement a statement that was... oh, less than comforting? I feel a little better since they're being so quiet and apparently big donors have a good feeling about what's about to happen?

When every journalist in the country has contradicted themselves, each time they report something new what can you believe. All you can do is put your faith in the people the run your organization to do the right thing for that organization. ISU is on an island in this and let just hope that JP and GG can navigate the waters properly. ISU has been in a power conference since there have been power conferences. It is unlikely that other people out side of this Forum don't know that. So all we can do is wait and see.

But that doesn't mean it is easy, or that we like it. Just have to let the chips fall where they may.

B12 leaders being quiet could mean there's something brewing, or it could be that they think they'll just look worse for saying something. What can Beebe say publicly that isnt Baghdad Bob-ish right now? I'm sure he's doing as much as he can behind the scenes but even then, his power is very limited. He had one card that would actually work, bringing more revenue to the table, and he used it last summer.

I am also comforted by the lack of noise from our leadership. If we were headed towards a less-than-favorable outcome, I'd imagine the spin would be on. I have the feeling we've got outs in BCS conferences no matter how this plays out.

As I see it, the conference has to be quiet right now. If there is any hope of collecting money from A&M, the B12 officers cannot be talking about the break-up. Just sit quietly and when they are in the SEC, collect the money and then put the plan (on which you have been working in the background) into action.

I blame Nebraska, A&M, and Oklahoma in that order. (obviously P16 Scott and UT have a big share of the responsibility as well, but at least they've been consistent)

They all voted for no sharing for years, then they cried like little babies when they sucked at making money compared to Texas.

Texas has been consistent all along. Nebraska, A&M, and Oklahoma all just did a completely irrational 180 about sharing. It was pathetic they didn't want equal revenue distribution from the beginning like other major conferences have (Texas included) and it's even more pathetic that they cried like babies when they couldn't keep up with the Longhorns.

Yes!! They helped make the rules to the game and then, like little *******, bailed when it didn't work out like they wanted. If they had banded together, they could have either made Texas toe the line or, if UT left, replaced them with another quality team. If only they realized what was best for the conference was actually good for them too. Sadly, they could see the forest for the trees.

I suspect there's some wound healing going on within the conference and the BigXII stays together.

So, to make sure I'm straight on this, so long as a majority of the Big 12 stays together and viable we can sue the every-living **** out of TAMU and any others that leave? I like it.

If the conference somehow magically sticks together again, I don't see how it ever survives >5 years unless the LHN magically becomes BXIIN. I think the damage is pretty deep between OU and UT and at the end of the day, that's all that matters in this conference anymore.

Part of me suspects that all the OU and TX noise lately is to force A&M to stay through Texas politics, or at a minimum, the threat of tort.

Kansas's Chancellor made this statement today. IMO Doesn't sound like the Big12 is going to survive.

""It's obviously disappointing that it has come to this point. Keeping the Big 12 strong and competitive remains our top preference, but no matter what happens we're going to continue to work in the best interests of the University of Kansas. That's our number one priority and it's what we've been focused on throughout the process as we've looked at all our options when it comes to conference realignment."
