Someone from the student section should dress like a giant mason jar. That would be all over Shaggy Bevo.

Hearing the SEC vote to admit Texas A&M was 10-2 and that West Virginia is squarely on the SEC radar as a potential 14th member.

that would open the door for the B12 north to slide into the BE...I like it.

You aren't going to see both WVU and Mizzou turn the SEC down. They'll get one, and we'll go to the Big East.

I'd almost rather it be Mizzou, as I'd love to go to a game in Morgantown, but Mizzou is a bigger market that could add value to the Big East package.

FWIW, I still think we're ahead of KSU for a lot of reasons.

I would rather see West Virginia head into the SEC if it was between them and Mizzou. If we are headed into the Big East I would much rather have 3 teams that are very close to help dilute the extended travel expenses of heading to the east coast. If this really is coming to fruition then I think football-wise we would likely be middle of the pack, but there are a lot of questions regarding how recruiting goes and what our ceiling could be playing along the east coast for a majority of games. Now in turns of basketball this is a huge advantage for our current recruiting, the ability to say that we will be playing all those east coast teams in conference play would be huge...

But, I think I'm getting ahead of myself... Let's hear the official announcement first...

Which teams voted against A&M? I don't suppose that info will come out...fun to speculate and see who the new rivals for them will be.

Yeah, plus it might help our chances of getting to the Big East. Maybe they would look at Baylor more if Mizzou was in SEC.

This. Given a choice, I'd chose the Big 10 if I had a preference, as there's a lot of teams there that are also close to us. Big East with the rest of the Big XII north leftovers is ok with me though. All are better than where some of the sports writers put us.

Not exactly sure.
Would love it if we could take the remains of the big8 and join with the big east, add one and be the first super. Don't think OU would agree though.

Here's a interesting post from a "Mondo" character whos been pretty much spot on so far.

* My legislative buddy "Mondo" told me that tamu won't be going to the SEC without us. The SEC has NOT MADE AN OFFER to tamu, but the basic "understanding" is that they are willing to take us to get tamu and will take Okie Lite to get OU.

Nothing will happen unless UT balks at reining in their expanded network plans BY AUGUST 15th. If EITHER of the current LHN plans to show high school games or a conference game are still in play, tamu will pull the trigger.

* OU isn't on board with the move to SEC, but is concerned what aTm did. OU's Sooner TV deal will apparently guarantee at least 5 million a year for them in a no lose proposition from FOX.

SEC would only take two teams on a first go round. TT was left out of the discussion after SEC balked.

* Mondo said that it is coming monday..If you recall, Mondo told me awhile ago that the drop dead date was the 15th for Texas to stop aTm's move and I haven't heard anything different.

* When Mondo said Monday, He MEANT MONDAY
Texas A&M officials eager to talk about SEC move to meet Monday | Texas A&M Aggies News - Sports News for Dallas, Texas - SportsDayDFW

* I asked Mondo for info on Missouri and he had this: B12 Commissioner Dodds has told the other eight ADs that Texas will stay committed with them at nine teams, but will abandon the conference in a heartbeat if OU OR Missouri "TALK ABOUT LEAVING".

UT is acting publicly nonchalant about aTm, but Dodds and Powers are furious aTm called their hand at the poker table that is Texas politics.

So, don't expect to hear anything from either OU or MU, they have been warned to STFU. If you do hear anything at all besides denials it is MU or OU saying eff off Dodds.

* Don't freak out yet, read my earlier post and you'll see why MU isn't talking publicly. MU wants to control when this blows up, instead of all the control being in UT and the PAC12's hands.

* Tech is screwed, MU to SEC along with A&M OU to Pac 12 with KS. Not sure about Texas yet.

B12 meeting today to try and save the league one last time. If it fails, which it will, because MU has a pending offer from SEC it's over gentlemen, the B12 is no more.

* (8/13) Mondo didn't talk to MU officials but here is what he says OU HAS A TENTATIVE DEAL in place with the Pac 12 if the B12 collapses. MU has to be holding the keys because OU wouldn't prepare to dump the Sooner network without knowing the B12 was probably dead. There was more money tied up there than people realize. Part of the reason for the OU silence.

* When aTm makes it official, MU will make it official. Both are going to the SEC.

* Yes, MU is the 14th team. When aTm applies and a quick conference call meeting of SEC presidents will vote them in, then MU will apply and will be accepted secondarily.

If aTm doesn't apply, HIGHLY UNLIKELY, then MU won't apply.

* (8/15) Process update...everything is on course for aTm move still, although some in the legislature are ginning up some bogus money losses to make the move look like a disaster for the state of Texas. All of that is to protect Baylor, UT and presumably TT.

TT has let everyone know they are willing to take their shot for the Pac 12 it isn't a totally done deal, but is beginning to look probable. MU will wait until at least Monday to make application after the curators give authority to someone to act on the University's behalf this Friday. Not sure if that will be Deaton or who?

As I've mentioned before, both aTm and MU will be voted in to the SEC unanimously.

* Mondo still says Friday or Tuesday after labor day for the aTm announcement. SEC vote will be unanimous, although LSU and at least one other school would vote no if there was enough support to not add aTm.

Expect MU to notify the B12 that they will be exploring their options on the second or third day following the SEC "vote" to invite aTm.

The Pac 12 will move as soon as MU announces their move and, thank goodness, this cluster will come to an end with TT making the Pac 12 cut along with OU, OSU and KS.

* Strangely enough, we need your domino to fall, which at this point, it appears it is falling.

We've all seen that these things are very fluid. The television networks are playing a VERY LARGE roll in this behind the scenes. Maybe I should say, they are totally freaking out and or licking their chops depending on who they are.

I think ESPN screwed this up and I can't see how they'll win big in the end, but then we'll see.

The embarrassing aspect to this is that Mondo swears that BYU is NOT joining the B12, so you'll see that talk disappear with no invite extended.

* Mondo says...things will unfold next week like he said before. MU will follow aTm's entrance to the SEC with their application and TT, OU et al, are safely headed to the Pac xx when that happens.

Also, Deloss is furious that OU isn't toeing the line and Chip Brown is saying whatever Dodds tells him to say, so basically, you can write off what Bevo Chip says as Dodd's BS.

Of course, the same could be said about me, passing along what Mondo wants, but I think Mondo has been straight up with me.

BTW, you won't hear anything more of significance from Dodd's proxy Beebe. BYU said thanks but no thanks. It was really the only hope Dodds had of keeping this mess together.

There will be work over the weekend, but this should be all but concluded next week.

Maybe i'm crazy, but doesn't the possible departure of WV put the Big East on more unstable ground than the Big 12? You don't think that Pittsbugh, etc is getting a little nervous now and might be more receptive to other conference pitches? After all, Big 12 already has a contract that would pay them double/triple what they're making now. Not speculative amounts.

I don't think the Big East is stable at all.

I too think ISU is ahead of K-State for a lot of reasons, except one important one. KSU may be tied to KU and KU's basketball program will seemingly land them somewhere.

Yeah, but if the Big 12 is falling apart, ISU, MU, KU and KSU have no landing spots, and the BE says "ISU, KU, and MU, come on down", KU isnt going to risk that for the sake of KSU.
