If Iowa State joins the Big East along with the other north schools, maybe we should have East/West divisions named Pilgrims and Indians. :jimlad:

I don't think the Big East is stable at all.

Agree.

Syracuse, UConn, Pitt and Rutgers could all be swooped up by the ACC if they expand.

Pitt and Rutgers could be swooped up by an expanding B10.

West Virginia, Mizzou and Louisville could all end up in the SEC as the 14th, 15th and 16th teams

The BE could easily end up being Cincy, USF, ISU, TCU, KSU, Baylor and two other current non-AQ schools. That Big East would suck for ISU.

Yeah, the Big East is ripe for picking by the ACC and Big Ten if they go to 16 and at that point the MWC would be a better conference to be in.

And the MWC is not a good conference to be in. A huge step up from the MAC, but an even more huge step down from where we are now.

And if all those things happen, there is one AAU school left for the two Big Ten spots. And ND left for the other.

I had this same thought and this would be the ultimate prize. But for icing on the cake, for the 2 years we would play in the Big East as this all unfolds, we could be conference champs and play in two BCS bowl games.

If you knew this was how it would all go down and we had 2 years to play in the Big East before the Big 10 expanded again. Then of all the times to cheat now would be it. I say break every rule in the book, go pay every player to come to ISU, make sure we win and get that invite to the big10...then, after we're in, we can let the wheels fall off.

Not exactly sure.
Wave,

Somebody by the name Jim criner had the same idea. Look what it got us, a 6-5 season and we're still digging out of his mess. I'm too old to go through 20 more years of REALLY bad football again.

Don't assume anything is a lock to have us win the fb conference championship. Remember, how long since our last one?

Not that Chip has been incredibly reliable (especially lately) but..

Orangebloods.com - A&M acceptance to SEC contingent on waiver of litigation

Hold everything folks.

The Southeastern Conference presidents met Tuesday night and voted to admit Texas A&M. But the vote came with a stipulation that still must be worked out.

The SEC presidents voted to admit Texas A&M as the 13th member of that league so long as each individual member of the Big 12 waives its right to litigation against the SEC.

And it was unclear Tuesday night if all nine remaining members of the Big 12 would waive that right, sources said. The Big 12 schools were expected to discuss the matter on Wednesday, sources said. That's the same day Texas A&M has planned a celebration in College Station to announce its admission into the SEC, sources said.

If even one of the Big 12 schools refuse to waive their right to sue the SEC over its courtship of Texas A&M, the SEC could withdraw its vote to admit A&M, sources said.

After letters were exchanged by SEC commissioner Mike Slive and Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe Tuesday, Beebe told Slive the Big 12 conference office had waived its right to litigate against Texas A&M or the SEC but that the Big 12's waiver was not binding on the individual members of the Big 12, sources said.

The SEC indicated it would admit Texas A&M only upon condition that each individual member of the Big 12 waive its right to sue the SEC, sources said.

And that condition was in doubt Tuesday night, sources said.

Stay tuned.

IF this is the hurdle, why would anyone, especially any schools like ours that may face losses if the conference collapses, waive that right?

Completely agree, if that is the stipulation then there is no way aTm gets to the SEC as there should be no way in hell teams like ISU/KU/KSU and Baylor agree to that unless we really do have some amazing back-up plan.

No worries BC, I was just joking and I would hope there isn't a single member of our AD our major donor base that would attempt to bend the rules for a couple of extra wins.

Wow, I can't imagine everyone, especially Baylor would waive their rights on this. I would say this ends realignment talks; except, since realignment seems to always go the opposite direction we expect, this will probably acceleration OU to the PAC1?, probably will be announced by end of business tomorrow.

Baylor will be faced with a option of letting the Ags leave in 2012 & still being able to schedule with A&M

or the Ags leave in 2013 & A&M blackballs Baylor from all future scheduling

Why would a year's time give the SEC presidents the cajones to risk a lawsuit?

I would hope ISU would not waive our litigation rights, and I would also expect at least KSU and Baylor to do the same.

Well I personally think it is a little more complicated than that...

And I too pose the question why the theory that aTm leaves in 2013 instead? What changes that allows them to do so then?

I dont think the year A&M leaves would matter as far as tortious interference claims goes.

Hell, im not sure ISU should waive that right unless we have a locked down deal to at least the big east.

HAHAHA. As much as I would love to escape this hot mess express once and for all, I would LOVE for Baylor to be the one to jam a huge plug in this leaking dam. aTm would have to come wallowing back to the most dysfunctional conference ever. This is becoming the most insane soap opera in sports history. I can't wait to read JP's memoirs some day.

I see this all as a HUGE plus for Iowa State. Baylor is apparently the ONLY hurdle left for A&M that is threatening to sue. Why? Well why would any of the remaining Big 12 schools sue if they all have a place to land? This all is telling me that Baylor is ****ed and everyone else had their **** together a long time ago and that Iowa State is headed Big East. All A&M will have to do is payoff Baylor.
