It's the same thing that has been happening in the corporate world: wealth is being consolidated between a handful of power-brokers. They bring enough along for the ride that they can get away with it.

I don't necessarily believe this, however, if it all does shake down I 100% believe ISU is going to be just fine.

I have said all along that I see no scenario where Iowa State could possibly be demoted to the kiddie table. I just don't buy it. No inside source here, just my faith in our leadership.

I swear either nobody pays attention or they are so stuck on their preconceptions that it just doesn't sink in - it was brought up earlier in this thread that KU and K-State are NOT tied to the hip like everyone is led to believe. KU would prefer to bring K-State along, but KU is in self-preservation mode, and if a conference only wants KU then K-State is on its own.

I knew KU said they were not tied at the hip with K-State if it comes down to it, but that was also followed by the Kansas legislature saying they wanted the two to stick together.

If the PAC takes KU as 15, and not KSU as 16, who are they taking?

Tech?
Mizzou?
ISU?
Mt West team?

I just can't see Tech going without Texas in tow. Can't see Mizzou headed out to the Pacific Ocean when they'll have other options later on. ISU? Mt West team? We'll see who the 16th would be if not KSU.

Not going to happen. NCAA would have to allow for another game. If they do that after turning down playoff system for the entire FBS, you can guarantee congress getting involved.

I guess how I see it working is all 16 teams play in the first week of the playoffs. The 4 #1 seeds play with the 2 winners advancing to the championship game. The #2-4 seeds play for bragging rights as their final conference game of the year.

Uh, yes, a defacto playoff. Semi-Finals and Championship game.

So if Pac goes to 16 next year and no one else does, they get have 2 playoff games just to get to BCS. Sorry, don't see members approving that. That is suicide.

OU would have NO championship game in Big 12, but would have be willing to go to Pac 16 and have 2 playoff games. Where is the logic in that?

The logistics of putting together 8 games together on one weeks notice makes that impossible. Also what do you do if it's a repeat of an earlier season matchup?

I assume these games would be played at home stadiums. You couldn't include these in the season ticket package since you wouldn't know until the week before who was playing where. Could be some poorly attended games with one week notice to sell a meaningless home game for seeds 2-4 around Thanksgiving.

There is nothing magical or mystical about the number 64 except that there will always be more BCS teams than 64 --- this is just so myopic and silly --- not to mention a long-term negative revenue generator - The reason none of this is viable.

That is an absolutely fantastic point. Nobody wants to schedule 1-2 more games like that than their competition. That really is illogical.

I believe that you brought in a point that hasn't been mentioned before. In this thread, that would be hugely remarkable.

People talk about Texas playing every card, but I'm beginning to think OU has vastly outplayed their hand.

Appears to me OU has made unspoken demands of Texas, Texas gave up some easy ground isn't blinking on the LHN and telling them have fun travelling west, now OU has to make a decision as to whether they follow through wtih their threat...I personally think OU can go anywhere they want to go, its a matter of do they trully want to?

I look for ESPN to broker a deal for OU to preserve the interim peace, Big 12 proclaims unity with "equal revenue sharing" and OU prospers with a not quite as good as Texas side deal. ESPN doesn't want to lose the brand to Fox and wants to ensure its interests are protected in the future...Or it could be as simple as OU and Texas play on the Long Horn Network/Sooner Network with equal revenue sharing between themselves on that game...If they are gone, get gone and lets all get on, otherwise get stop holding the rest of the league hostage with your selfishness and thirst for power..

There is too much money in the Big 12 for it to just disappear.
IT's like a bunch of kids at christmas standing around imagining the wonders that lie under that wrapping paper. Boy are they going to be disappoionted when it's just socks, shirts and a toy or two,,,,,, just like last year.
