If the B1G will only accept AAU member institutions, and the ESPN report that Rutgers and UCONN are the next two ACC candidates, then ISU's slim chances just improved:

Remaining AAU Schools
Texas - PAC 12?
Kansas
Iowa State
Missouri - SEC?
Notre Dame - Staying Independent or going to the PAC-12 per reports.

I understand the B1G said they were not going to consider expansion until their new contract comes up with ESPN in (2015 or 2016?) but maybe they would expand on a tier 2 deal similar to what Nebraska received where full revenue share doesn't kick in until after 3-4 years of membership, by that time the new contract would be in place. It will be interesting to see how this will play out.

So the LHN essentially is ripping up the Big 12. And now the Pac-12, Big Ten and ACC have pretty much said no to it. Saving the Big 12 is probably the only option UT has. For claiming "everybody wants Texas", it looks like nobody wants them.

So does the Big East poach Big 12 schools, or do Big 12 schools poach Big East schools?

This may be back a few pages somewhere, but bears repeating.

I am delighted to hear that Congress will get involved in conference realignment. Time to breathe some sense into this madcap situation!

I know the ACC Revolution concerns ISU, because Jamie Pollard sent me a link to it and said "that could've been us. :-(" Pretty scary stuff.

Thank god my Cyclones got out of UConn last night before the ACC revolution struck. They'd probably all be hostages today.

Based somewhat on your scenario the obvious would be if Texas stays then it's the Big 12 that does the poaching.

I want to hear from Rebeccacy how OU is still going to save our bacon. What a bunch of crap.
Could still happen. Kind of like last year when the Pac jumped the gun the ACC might have done the same.

ISU to the Big 10 won't happen...the Big 10 would stay at 12 before adding schools that would lose money for all involved.

If UT/ND are off the table, I could definitely see a situation where the Big Ten stands at 12 to see how things shake out before progressing any further.

My preference at this point would be to add ND, scrap the divisional format, and play a 9 game rotating conference schedule. The two teams with the best record at the end of the year play in the CCG. If there are three or four teams that are deserving, there can be a four school playoff.

The chances of the Big Ten expanding to 16 without ACC schools is slim to none. With the move the ACC just made, they really solidified their position at the big boy table.

I do think the ACC's move could have negative ramifications though. Their small TV contract just got smaller. They are locked into a TV contract for another ten years and now have to split if 14 ways rather than 12. Further, Pitt/Syracuse don't really offer any football market penetration, so I don't see their contract getting any larger.

This addition makes the ACC nearly a professional basketball conference, unfortunately for the ACC, network TV contracts aren't about basketball money.

If the ACC had their own network, this move would have made more sense.

I can't believe I am doing this but I agree with hawkfan on those two points above. Next I expect fire and brimstone falling from the sky, cats and dogs living together in total harmony.

This is what happens when schools say they are acting in good faith...when they aren't. See pitt and big east tv contract, wait to see mizzou and their chancellors role in the big xii, and ou's role in being part of the bigxii 5 member expansion team

We are the ones with a long term tv contract (fox) and potentially $50-60 million in exit fees. As long as we can officially remain a conference (big if), they are joining us.

I have no idea how their TV contract is written. It is entirely possible they will be able to demand a review of their deal if conference arrangements change significantly.

IF OU and UT leave the Big 12, or the Big East collapses in on itself, you can bet your *** TV execs are going to want to re-do the TV deals. So they won't really be able to avoid the precedent for re-doing a deal in the ACC's favor.

If uconn joins Syracuse in acc, ESPN will never show another conference's bball game again. It is the joining of their four great loves... Cuse, uconn, duke, and unc. **** Vitale must have the biggest hard-on ever.

Exactly. Do you think they are going to get anything on par with the other conferences without four signature schools?

The best thing we have for us is the fox contract.

Which the network can withdraw from if the conference make up changes.

Maybe it is written that way. We will soon find out. I can't imagine why espn would include that clause in a contract - gives the conference all the power. But they've done other foolish things (see $300 million for longhorn network).

Yeah, it is sickening to see colleges act like corporate raiders.
