Re: Big XII needs a New Commissioner

What if OU is calling TX bluff and forcing them to equal revenue sharing and a conference network. How do you know that is not what is happening? Quit acting like your stupid avatar.

I guess we will know what is going on after both Regents meetings monday.

Is that what's happening? I don't believe anyone outside of OU truly knows.

I want to believe you, I really, really do...but the longer this goes on, the less likely it seems, if this was a game of chicken, then the other conferences are out maneuvering OU and Texas in the process...I don't know, I don't have a clue, but I don't think anyone on this board does either...

I think something like this is most likely to happen. This was tweeted by Land Thieves a little while ago.
Big Tweast: West TCU,Houston,Baylor,Kansas State,Iowa State,Colorado State East: Louisville,Cinci,USF,UCF,ECU,Memphis thats what i got

Well, we could win the West. It still makes me sick though. That's a huge step down academically for Iowa State. Would that conference be an auto qualifier?

What happens to the Fiesta Bowl now that the end is nigh for both of their conference partners? How do BCS bowls protect themselves from conference realignment?

What should he have done differently? He's in a position of zero power.
He is the commisioner and he has power. So far he is doing very well. The only mistake he made was not forcing a contract and a big buy-out last year, but it's not that he didn't try. Schools weren't ready.

Dan Beebe problem is that he is too comfortable with the way things are, and too much into Texas. The Big 12 conference is too big into Texas. This has got to quit being about the halves and the thoughts and wishes of the halves-not need the same amount of attention.

We also need to get away from the idea that if we lose Texas we are screwed. They are the big money winner for the conference, but bringing in BYU, South Florida, etc wouldn't be a bad conference. I think we could even pouch some schools from other conferences if we weren't so unstable.

While I like your opinion, that conference would not retain a BCS bid. Along with that, it's unlikely that exit fees would be paid since the future of a conference minus OU and UT is unlikely. I think your conference design is likely which would be great for us. We would be in the highest 2nd-tier conference with money similar (maybe a little less) than what we are getting now, and we'd be even more competitive for championships.

If the current big east has a BCS bid, why wouldn't that get one? If Pitt is your bell-cow school and you got a BCS bud then anything is possible.

5 BCS conferences with 3 spots for at-large. Or 5 bids with 5 at-large.

All signs are pointing to this not happening.

I seem to remember you also being 100% convinced that TAMU would never leave.

I doubt it -- they won't run out, call a press conference and tell us everything discussed behind closed doors. EVER.

Re: Big XII needs a New Commissioner

Ok this is probably only my second or so post in any re-alignment thread, so forgive my ignorance. But from what i read.. this is TEXAS' fault and even more fault of DAN BEBEE.

The conference didn't fall apart because of A&M or nebraska or colorado even.

Teams will look for their own best interest. Its the head commissioners job to keep everyone together. I blame Texas for their longhorn network, but its really Bebee's fault for allowing that ****.

The longer this goes on the better the outcome will be. Too many people who expect the worse and don't undertand the importance of patience and process.

FDR could have been commissioner and the conference still would have fallen apart.

And they have not left. They can't. SEC was warned of legal ramifications. 100% convinced that would happen too.......remember. A&M may leave but not until the ISU's of this world are happy with the new order. Getting Dr Tom out was the first step to equal revenue sharing. Told you that too.

Re: Big XII needs a New Commissioner

This is not Beebe's fault, this is not Texas's fault. This is the fault of those that agreed to things, then got butthurt because Texas used those things to their advantage better than they did.

(not saying that Beebe and Texas have no fault in it, they just get blamed too much.)
