Reading the mega thread - "Texas A&M to the SEC" is getting old. So many people feeling sorry for ourselves. We will be fine and potentially better than we ever have been.

Two weeks ago we were the crappiest athletic program in the country according to every media story. Now, we have beaten our in state rival, Iowa and followed that up with a win at Big East champ UCONN as U of I beat Pitt to add validity to our win over them.

Now I'm reading posts about how ISU is a program on the rise. ESPN has made positive comments about what a great job CPR is doing at ISU. THIS is how fast things change with regard to public opinion. We even have a story from a major media outlet listing us as someplace the B1G should be looking.

College Football Expansion: 5 Teams the Big Ten Will Pursue | Bleacher Report

Before someone says they aren't a major media source, they are the 4th largest sports media site in the US.

In general, all of this panic talk is no different than acting like a bunch of insecure nerds that lack any kind of self confidence.

Get a grip, people. We will be just fine.

If you have something positive to post, feel free but no more sky is falling BS. Save that for the A&M thread.

Can we start a positive post here please?

Wouldn't call Bleacher Reports a credible source. They said we beat Purdue even though they talk about the Iowa-Iowa St rivalry.

This year however, ISU is 3-0 and has beaten Purdue of the Big Ten as well as Connecticut (2010 Big East Champions).

Positive thoughts....

I discovered a $20 bill in my wallet I had forgotten was in there. And the puppy, inexplicably, didn't poop on the driveway this morning like he normally does.

There's two to get the ball rolling!

I know, but they are still a major sports media outlet

Though, to be fair, the Bleacher Report story has you beating Purdue. I know OMHR and Iowa have similar school colors, but still...

Incidentally, you've only ever played Purdue once... in 1895... You forfeit the game. The score was 1-0 at the time.

I think we have a really good chance to beat TX and I know someone posted the other day that OU is next up for TX putting us in a good spot. However, add in that we have 2 weeks to get our boys healthy, and TX actually has OU followed by OSU, I don't think we could ask for a better set up for this game!

All I've been thinking today is how similar this whole day has been to what it was 15 months ago, and how our athletics program/university was doomed. It turned out OK. Big 12 survived for a while, lots of posturing was done and lots of egos got stroked. It might even happen again and the Big 12 becomes the 5th "super conference".

Long story short, there's nothing our worrying is going to do to fix the problem. Just wait until tomorrow night once we know TX and OK's decisions, and then continue to build our program as best we can as fans from there - regardless of our conference affiliation.

My hope is we will come out of this with a 12 team Big 12 with two divisions, which should be better for us, or we will be aligned with more teams we can compete with from the Big 12 and Big East leftovers, which will include at least several Texas schools, which is also good for us. I think 5 BCS qualifying conferences is a more likely result than 4 super conferences which would leave out too many good programs and ruin college football.

In a way, its exciting the potential to get back into a real conference that values integrity, honesty, equal revenue sharing, etc...IF the forgotten 5 stick together, you can bet there will be no more unequal bs, we may all be equally poor, but no way after going though this we sign up to be someone's ***** again...so that is positive
