Bah, all this new conference talk is nonsense. This conference would be so second rate compared to the new superconferences it wouldn't even be funny. We would be the Mountain West of the Midwest. Eventually, we would get shut out of the BCS or the playoff or whatever it is that gets setup, and the gap between us and the other schools would grow. We have three options now as I see them. Save the Big 12 with OU and UT, join the B1G, or die as an AD. The backup plan to merge with the Big East seems to be off the table, as it doesn't look like there is going to be much of a Big East left.

You're assuming the superconferences work.

I still see Missouri to the SEC a real possibility TX, TT, OU, and OSU leave for the PAC. So the new "Midwest" conference gets even weaker.

Well I am pretty sure if the choice is to Die as an AD or try to make a go with those like us that are left out, we will try to make a go of it...

That said, I would like to see the new conference get the top Basketball programs possible, that way we have something to be proud of and get our new conference some noteiriety.

We are not going to get shut out. A playoff where only teams from 4 conferences are eligible WILL NEVER HAPPEN. You can quote me on it. Add it to your signature if you disagree so you can say "I told you so".

Id like to say if they go to 4 16 team conferences and ISU finds a spot in one of these conferences I hope they are required to play atleast 1 team in another super conference. I also hope that they don't increase the season to 14 weeks but keep it at 12.

Keep it at 8-10 geographically relevant teams, and then use the exit fees to file a complaint with the IRS against the Pac-16 and member schools for violating the terms of their non-profit status. I could see Ken Starr doing something like that. It would make a nice movie...

No AQ, so why bother? That conference will be lucky to pay out 2-3 MM / year in TV revenue.

Whatever new conference might be formed...MUST be of at least 12 teams to be taken seriously at all. Not to mention a conference Championship game would be a must.

Something like:

BYU
ISU
KU
Missouri
KSU
Cincinnati
Baylor
South Florida
TCU
Louisville
UCF
Houston

And as the Big 12 remnant...its still an AQ conference with full BCS status.

No, it could not. I want to be nice in this reply but its incredibly difficult due to your incredibly idiotic statement of Mo Valley.

ABSOLUTE worst case would be MWC.

B10
OU pulls its head out and we grab 3 BE teams
B12 remainders merge with BE remainders
MWC
No possiblility of anything lower than that. At that point we're folding up our athletic department and telling the state that somehow we need a bailout to cover millions in debt that our AD cant pay for anymore.

Seems like a good pecking-order there.

I might think there could be a merger of either B12/BE remainders or Big 12/MWC ... which, if either of those happen, schools involved need to create a new conference with a true vision, and not just a temporary stop-over.

The Big 12 is still AQ until the next review period. As long as the Faithful Five hold together and don't let the Big 12 dissolve, they will be AQ. Then, some teams have to win some games...

+$100,000,000 from exit fees.

Could this work?

Boise State should replace USF. Better football and much better overall athletic program. It would also help with AQ status which USF would not.

Not sure why people would want South Florida instead of Boise State. With BSU you get better overall athletics, much more help on AQ and a team with more national following (38 in country in merchandise sales)

No way on Boise State...not up to snuff in terms of taking partial qualifiers, academics, and TV sets.

I want nothing to do with Boise State, partial qualifiers are not what we need...let them fight their own fight, we need to be careful about giving anyone a promotion here, stick with the current AQ schools that are left out. Adding more non-AQ's just produces compeition for the remaining spots in the big 10 down the line

i'm a negative nancy with this news of everyone leaving, so sorry my view is a little clouded........but this conference looks like ****. Not one team could compete for a national championship (minus KU in basketball). Basically this is a new version of the MWC....what happens to the conference when the B1G goes to 16, then it gets even weaker. No TV network is going to pay anything to cover these teams.

This could work, kinda like the Florida angle. Wildcards are BYU and Mizzou. Think we'll have closure by the end of the week.
